U.S increases black budget spending

Topic started on 11-2-2006 @ 01:45 AM by NWguy83

Increases in the classified or 'black' portion of the Pentagon budget continue in Fiscal Year 2007 (FY07), with some allocations steady and others spectacular.

For example, the navy effort known as Chalk Eagle has jumped from USD46 million to USD139 million between FY05 and FY07. The Retract Maple programme has risen by USD41 million in a single year and now stands at USD344 million - bigger than the V-22 or unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) R&D programmes. Both Chalk Eagle and Retract Maple are listed as "advanced component development and prototypes".

Under "advanced technology development" in the US Air Force (USAF) R&D budget is the Special Programs line item 0603801F. This gets a USD40 million boost to USD316 million in FY07 and is now three times its FY03 value. Listed as "operational systems development" are three programmes that add up to USD1.28 billion. Funding listed under Special Evaluation Program - a veteran of the classified world, descended from a line item that covered the F-117 in its black-world days - is nearly doubled in FY07 compared to the previous year to USD530 million. Advanced Program Evaluation (formerly Omega) is USD437 million - more than twice what it was in 1999. The Evaluation & Analysis Program has risen slightly, to USD313 million.

I wonder what the Navy has up it's sleeve. My best guess would be Tango Bravo, a next gen attack sub. Which would be smaller than current USN attack subs, use water-jet propulsion, and be more automated like the DD(X) will be. I also read somewhere that some of the black budget goes towards the U.S military's ability to hack enemies and protect themselves from other hackers. And I hope the Air Force is working on space-based weapons. That would be worth my tax dollars.

good info dood

i speculate they would by now have some sort of hyper efficient multi mach robotic craft with nano energonic clustter seaking missle capabilities, with smaller craft being launched by the submarine. all being coordinated by the persision survailing guidance satalites.

LoL you ARE kidding right?

Well I don't know what it's for, but I'm going to guess it's for generic research.

It yes, a woopin $9 trillion debt.

I think although, that the US are like trying to set some sort of a world record on just how much debt one country can have.

Well they've already done it....so now they want to make sure nobody ever beats them lol.

Don't look now, but the federal government had a surplus this past month.

In any case, the military is the ONE place I actually don't mind the Fed spending a bunch of money. If I were a dictator and could alocate funds, I'd have the millitary budget closer to a trillion dollars then half a trillion. That would be about 9% of our total budget.

How do you know its one the rise??? Its impossible to know that unless you know the exact $ figures of every project, for all the past several years to determin that.
Just cause those projects keep increasing, doesn't mean that other older projects have failed and were scrapped, or are retired, etc.

I'm sure the Black Budget is on the rise.....But its impossible to confirm it.

I could be wrong, but I believe you are mistaken on this one Murcielago.

If I remember correctly, it's actually not too hard to figure out how much total money goes towards black projects. What is hard is finding out how much goes where and for what.

I agree with this guy. Lets spend some money on some protection for our troops. Lets develope some new stuff to protect them considering they have the most dangerous jobs. It's cool to surpass everyone in technology and i'm all for it but I'd rather our boys on the ground get some new, high tech, and good protection.
