Still comming down hard here on the Maryland side of the DC metro area. (1:30 AM)

We've picked up 5-6" easily so far. And it's not going to stop here for another 3-4 hours. The 6-10" predicted for this area was right on the money (if we didn't have all that rain for most of the day, we would have picked up a whole lot more). Winds are picking up here as well.

Oh and yeah, there has been some lightning and thunder

One quick question...

Anyone remember that thread about how this winter is unseasonably warm...and teh birds flew north already (or something like that)...But now, finally, temperatures are dropping, and snow is falling...

The question:

Is this one last 'kick' before winter is over....or is winter just coming later and later...maybe our dates are wrong, and are seasons are getting mixed up?

I dunno. Food for thought. I sure wish I had snow. I'm in crappy Florida...

I live in northern Hew Haven County in Connecticut and just got an update saying Total snow accumulation should average 12 to 18 inches. So if it averages that through out the whole state in some places I think were looking at over 2' feet.

Its hype hype hype. Its 8am in the Cape and we have 2 inches in the Hyannis area. The wind isnt blowing- I wouldnt be surprised if we get a total of 4 inches at the most.

From 18 inches to 4 inches. Thats a huge difference. I guess we'll have to see what happens.

HA! You have no patience! You only have 2 inches because
it has only gotten started.
What .. you think it all comes
down at once in one big bunch or something.

You're funny!

S. Philly update - 1 foot on the ground. Powder.
It's still coming down. VERY windy as well.

Power's still on (obviously).
Pipes aren't frozen.

This is a storm. Not a blizzard.
But it IS a storm.

Flyers,

I guess so.
I am at my sons house with my pregnant daughter in law and my husband! What a great group.

My kids went to the Framingham area to plow. Its their time to make some good $$$$$$.

I want lots and lots of snow. I'm like a little kid

ALOT of snow here in Hartford!
i just checked with NOAA and they said as of 1pm we had 20.7 inches on the ground!
its still snowing as i write.
looks pretty windy but i can't be too certain because since there's this much snow im staying nice an warm in my PJ's today
i was up until 7 am and when i finally turned in then, there was like 6-8 inches or so... so we seriously had that HEAVY SNOW the warnings were posted for during the mid-late am hours.
as i look out my window i think
1- how could anyone out there travel or accomplish anything... this is an intense storm
and 2- how will they clean up campus for classes tomorrow!?!?!

goodday all!

Are you in Central Jersey because here on the coast of Ocean County (Berkeley Township) we got about 4-6 inches. It did't start to snow until about 1 AM and before that all day yesterday was rain.

Yeah, I'm very close to the ocean and salt air plays a factor.
Family in N. Jersey tell me that got 18"

Maybe next weeks big storm will get me.
Need to have the plow pay for it's maintenance.

Record dry spell in Phoenix with no rain since Oct. 18, 2005.
Record snow fall in NY City with 26.9 inches of snow.

Talk about dichotomy....
