to do is look and sound like a large cat and be a tiger in bed...so be it...
Thats what I was talking about I would be totally against this being done to a baby or anyone too young to make such a important choice on their own.
But if the tech exist someday to do this as a adult through gene therapy or whatever I think they should be allowed.
You do make a excellent point about concerns for the welfare and saftey of other people. You couldnt very well have someone spliced with so much
animal genes that they are runnning around eating people or something.
I really more invisoning a possible future were a human can mix traits for say. Eyes that have some eagle genes for better vision or cat genes for
better night vision or something. I wouldnt be against people taking it further say wanted scale green skin or something. It wouldn't be something I
would want but more power to anyone that does want that.

There is an actual condition called chimeraism. It's the result of two fraternal twins joining and one being absorbed by the other. The surviving
twin then has two DNA types. You may get one DNA strand from semen, and a different strand from a blood test.
Those people who have two types of DNA in their body are called chimeras after the mythological creature with a head of lion, body of a goat and a
tail of a serpent. These people are sometimes also referred to as mosaics. It has found that these people have two different types of DNA in various
parts of their body. Though a rare occurrence, this could have been due to various reasons. [Vladar, 2004]
One of the common reasons is that chimeras are formed if developing fraternal twin embryos join together to become one embryo. This is something which
is completely opposite of identical twins who are formed when a single embryo splits into two. This occurrence takes place in the very early stages of
the embryo development i.e. when it is still in the form of unspecialized cells, so when it develops the baby that is born is healthy but with two
types of DNAs. It is also found that fraternal twins don’t have same set of DNA, however, they the two fraternal twin embryos fuse together it
results in chimera.
Another reason for chimeras to form is when developing fraternal twin share the same blood supply. This usually happens when the twins with different
DNA share a placenta in the mother’s womb and cells from their blood mix together. This results in the twins being chimeras based on only their
blood as other cells are not affected by the blood supply. Chimeras are also formed through some mistakes or mutations taking place in the division of
the cells in the development embryo. This mainly takes place when the cells split into two so that they are able to be formed into more of themselves
for the growth of the embryo. It also results in the the doubling up of the DNA by the cells which gets divided between the two new halves. During
this process, if something goes wrong, then some new cells result in having different DNA. If this happens in the early stages of the development,
then the tissues which are developed from the cells will have different genotype.

Heres a possible outcome thats quite fun or at least will be fun for your children/future children. The Chimera Project was a so far fictional
program we discussed a while back. The pictures are cool too

Love the pics in that thread Shadow!
fun stuff-thanks
I just honestly have to wonder...WTH they have really succededed in doing *in the dark* so to speak...and if Bush's objections are real, or a
front...you know so if something goes awry he can play ignorant and say how he urged everyone to join him in opposing it...
perhaps his call for a worldwide ban through the UN was also smoke...you know...even if there was a ban, it wouldn't sltop anyone really...but
perhaps he was trying to slow down the competition in the field ?
YA KNOW????

Just look at The Lord of the Flies. Poor piggy wasn't even genetically enhanced to be a pig person, he was just a person. And those damn hunters
still wanted to kill him more than they wanted to kill a boar!
If it is okay to kill a pig to harvest the organ to save a human, why is it not okay to kill a human to harvest the organ to save a pig? Let's take
this whole Genetic thing further!
We could have entire 'Zoos' housing certain type of Donors. Donkeys that have mouse, cat, dog, human, zebra organs. Fish that have spider,
butterfly, and reindeer parts. Humans that have elephant, rhino, and whale parts.
Then we'd just kill the donors when some poor creature needed a part! Why just save humanity when we can play God and save all the world! Why just
slaughter pigs and horses when we can chop up a few martyrs of our own to save some poor animals? Hell, we kill them to save us, why can't we be fair
and return the favor?
Or we could take an Elephant, Rhino, Skunk and a Porcupine, mix them with a Whale and a Condor, and have an elite trainable weapon! Hell, maybe even
give it shark teeth! It could be the ultimate killing weapon! Perhaps a venomous bite like a Snake? What a great destructive weapon that would be!
Like when the Nazi's tried making Shark People for nautical soldiers, but way more cooler than that lame attempt!
I mean, after all, we have the Science and Technology now! Imagine all the things we can do!
Damndest thing about Pandora's Box, open it and the bi-yatch doesn't close. (Edited to slightly obscure vulgar language. Mods, feel free to edit
again if need be. Sorry, got a little wired up there!)

Would you not want this as a pet???
Seriously though, youve got to think, is there realllllly that much point of making human mouse hybrids or whatever. Is it REAAAAALLLLLLYYYYY that
important? It just seems that, they have one perfectly good method to say, produce new organs for people, but since thy have the technology at their
disposal, they cant resist doing it because they can.

I remember reading on this site about a year ago that animals of Cloven hoof such as pigs and cows where supposedly geneticall engineered from Humans
and wild Boar by Atlanteans!
Hence the Jewish faith not wanting to participate in pork (cloven hoof)
This would clearly make cloning and using pigs livers/kidneys in transplants a reality.

I don't know...I don't think the vast potential of human-animal hybrid was every just about organs...ever...so the whole human-brain in mice thing
is an extention of where else can this science
I want to know where it has gone already...

I for one want this to happen! I think it would be great and interesting. Expect other countries to be working with this very intensely. USA are too,
Bush being restrictive and negative about it is just a charade for the rest of the world, to gain any kind of advantage possible. Knowledge is power,
you know they are experimenting with free hands behind closed doors to learn what potentials this science has. I see nothing wrong with it as long as
you treat these creatures with respect. It's basically a necessary bad science that has to be explored sooner or later anyway and I think Bush
understands this very well.

No, Cman you aren't nuts....but that name is-I laugh when I say it in my head. Sorry
Anyway, i'ts been sucessfully going on for some times now and we are getting exposed gently to test the waters every now and again from the medical
science angle...but it's not often readily embraced yet usually.
Heck even the preseident is oppossing it (perhaps a facade)
anyway, for starters you can read the Washington post article-did you click on the first link in my opening post for this thread? Try that then just
google or do a chimera search and you should find plenty...let me see if I still have any other links lingering around you might be interested
in...
try this
and this...
human milk from cows
thats all I really have off hand but theres stuff out there for years now. check it out and let me know if you find anything really cool
