I was just sort of wondering about something. Not so long ago, there were several (well, at least 2 or 3) threads all basically about the same thing:
Bush Administration Demands Search Data; Google Says No, Others Comply,

Even Google isn't safe anymore

Bush had apparently asked Google, Yahoo and MSN to turn over their records to the Administration supposedly in order to see if filters were in place regarding who can look at porn, and Google was supposedly the only one which didn't comply - or something to that effect....

Anyway, you guys know what I'm talking about. I was sort of following those threads, read lots of info, possible mis-info, etc... conflicting stories and ideas, I guess I should say - regarding Google, who they really are, etc...

My question is to the effect that did I miss something? Or did the threads just sort of die out without anyone ever drawing a verifiable conclusion? What, if anything was decided would be the safest way in regard to our privacy to handle Google?

Any feedback?

Im taking a Serpo break, and catching up on the rest of ATS.
I think I will do a google search on 'google threads' & see what happens.

I'm not sure what you mean dead threads, but these threads are not locked and the best way to revive a "comatose" thread is to post to it, especially if you have new information.

You could start looking for information here.

I think Serpo put the skids on most everything else on ATS. I know I spent a month wondering where everyone was until I figured it out just a few days ago.

I to was following the google threads. I dont believe their is a "the google threads were killed" conspiracy. From what I could tell things just got stuck in a stalemate loop. The fact that you posted this thread proves there is no ggoogle thread death conspiracy. Also, there have been developments in the google story such as their whole China thing and I think people are just kind of holding their collective breaths waiting to see if they cave.

Yes you are right, however it seems useless to revive a thread by posting something useless, when you have no new info. (Which at the present time, I don't..........or at least I don't think I do.)

I guess it's just me. Just from the headlines alone, I found zero interest in the subject. It sounded like nothing but a diversion- by someone - for some reason not in our best interest. That's just me. And not having read the thread, I really don't have any business commenting on it.

Sorry, I was hoping to have this post go somewhere, but it didn't seem to.

Hi CK, I hit serpo in the beginning and just got caught up in it.
Unfortunately for me, same thread may drive me away from ATS.
I have witnessed the worst in people there recently. I am desparately searching for something to keep me here. The fighting is too tiring to read anymore.

There's plenty to keep you entertained here. Check out BTS. There's a couple of cool games going on right now.

Here's one:

sw, from what I've seen of your posts, you seem like a valuable member. I know what it's like to get caught up in something, and no matter how much it starts to annoy you, you just can't seem to get out. Sort of like one of those dreams that aren't really nightmares, but just plain boring and annoying and seem to go on forever. Then you wake up for a minute, and go back to sleep and right back into the same dream.

But, you seem to acknowledge the fact that you were caught up. "Serpo" will die down eventually as other things come up. Hang in here, O.K? In the meantime, maybe you could help determine if Google is "good" or "bad".

Google is neither good or bad. It is just a search tool. What people do with it is good or bad and what is done with the search history will be determined good or bad. Wait...did that make sense? Its been a long day.
