After 145 years in the business , Western Union has transmited its last "STOP" . The company annouced on its website that all telegram services
would cease on 27th Jan 2006 , citing the rise of the internet and ubiquitous mobile phone ownership .

i have sent fewer telegrams than i have toes , but those i sent were of vital importance or meant a great deal to either me or the recipient , its a
commercial descision i know , but i wish we still had the chance to indulge , as a telegram says a lot more than any other form of communication ,
IMHO anyway .
