You will need to provide the title of that documentary. Sounds like it is an embellishment or enhanced story of the SR-71 overflights of Libya during 1986. No Blackbird crew has ever gone on the record of stating that they went to fantastic speeds never seen before. The airframe had a limit.

The Blackbird never overflew Russia in any capacity. Overflights were banned after Powers was shot down, before the SR went operational. The only overflight of Russia since then was a NASA ER-2 in the 90s or early 2000s.

There were some amazing stories in those books. Great reads if you have the money to get them.
