Found these futuristic weapons from H&K. Possibly cancelled due to NATO standards and maybe the Re-Unification of Germany.

Believe some sporting rifle uses the G-11 Cartridges, Wonder if this type of weapon system will be used in the future?

Ah, the G11. Unusual gun. I believe the project was discontinued because a single round did very little damage. T

he only advantage of caseless ammunition was that it was smaller therefore more ammunition could be stored in the magazine.

The project was stopped because of a lack of funding. It fell together with the reunification in Germany which
1. needed and still needs LOTS of money -> shifted political synopsis
2. subsequently reduced the size and funding of the german army with the soviet threat gone
3. Germany was not willing to choose a non-NATO caliber at that time

The small bullet was not the downfall because the intention was to hit the target multiple times - hence the "salvo approach". For this salvo system (3rd. burst shot BEFORE recoil reaches the shooter) to work it needed an excessive firing rate - the ominous 2000RPM. And THAT was only possible with and the reason for the caseless ammunition, because the regular 3-stage firing cycle (feed-shot-extraction) was reduced to two stages (no extraction necessary).

Browno, the ammunition would be insanely expensive, I doubt the 4.7mm caseless are in active use anywhere in the world. Though Bundeswehr and GSG9 have some in storage...
