Best Piece of Advice You Have Ever gotten....

What is the best piece of advise you have ever gotten and from whom?

I'll start....

A friend once told me this: "When you say something, ask yourself three things: Is it TRUE, is it KIND, and is it NECESSARY?"

I'm not sure if it seems like advice while it stands alone, but one day during a talk with a former teacher he said this to me:

Forsan et haec olim meminisse iuvabit.

Which means--- Perhaps someday it will be pleasing to remember even these things.

It's a long story as to why that's advice, but those words always stuck with me.

"A lack of preperation on your part, does not constitute an emergency on my part"

Wow, I like that one alot!

Off the top of my head... errmm.. my ex-girlfriend told me, "Don't ever change unless you want to".

The only thing I can remember at the moment is something my dad said about US political parties about 10 years ago.

"Democrats want to control your money, Republicans want to control your life."

"Always ask how you can best manage your precious commodity of time"
...still working on that one...
I still have a long life ahead of me to give and get good advice, though

Son, dont be a dickhead!- My father. I know it sounds malicious but it wasnt, he was telling me how to deal with unruly customers at work after I had a rough night and kinda lashed out at one. Good advice if you ask me.

You can either be yourself or pretend to be someone else. In either case there are going to be people who don't like you and don't approve of you. So you might as well be yourself. I like you better that way. -my friend.

unfortunately this advice came a little late in my life. But I'm getting there...
