What is the best piece of advise you have ever gotten and from whom?
I'll start....
A friend once told me this: "When you say something, ask yourself three things: Is it TRUE, is it KIND, and is it NECESSARY?"
good words to live by.....How about you out there in BTSlandia?

I'm not sure if it seems like advice while it stands alone, but one day during a talk with a former teacher he said this to me:
Forsan et haec olim meminisse iuvabit.
Which means--- Perhaps someday it will be pleasing to remember even these things.
It's a long story as to why that's advice, but those words always stuck with me.

From my mother:
"Sex feels good, but that's not a reason to do it. When you do, there's no going back. You'll spend less and less time enjoying simple hand
holding and cuddling; and some day you'll miss it."

If your hand is being crushed in a vice, do you ask for an asprin or do you remove your hand from the vice?

The only thing I can remember at the moment is something my dad said about US political parties about 10 years ago.
"Democrats want to control your money, Republicans want to control your life."

The Most Profound words of Wisdom my estranged father ever graced me with was " In life we Usually seek adventure, Often Seek out fulfillment, The
only lesson & wisdom I can give you , is what I've learned to be true , The gold in our lives that many of us search for, as I have, is actually at
the begining of The Rainbow and not at the end of it"

Son, dont be a dickhead!- My father. I know it sounds malicious but it wasnt, he was telling me how to deal with unruly customers at work after I had
a rough night and kinda lashed out at one. Good advice if you ask me.

please don't constuct this as irredeemable cynicism...
if people don't want to hear about something, and you know it, don't rub it in their face. especially if they know it anyway.

I have just found two I wrote down because I loved them so much:
- When we lose one we love, our bitterest tears are called forth by the memory of hours when we loved not enough. ((Maurice Maeterlinck))
-It's afterwards you realize that the feeling of happiness with a man didn't necessarily prove that you loved him. ((Marguerite Duras))

You can either be yourself or pretend to be someone else. In either case there are going to be people who don't like you and don't approve of you.
So you might as well be yourself. I like you better that way. -my friend.

Here are a few...
"Happiness is entirely a state of mind..."
You CONTROL how you feel about everything.
...and
"The world owes you nothing..."
Make your own way.
...and
"The more things change, the more they stay the same..."
Patience and a sense of scale will limit the drama in one's life.
