I went to a job interview at the Dugway Army Proving Grounds yesterday. Really neat facility.

You get to the front gate where there is a tight curve around a concrete barricade, so terrorists can't just plow through at 100 mph. You have to park your car at a lot 50 feet away from the guard post, where you have to bring a ton of identification for verification.

From there you can enter the main part of the base - the living quarters, the commissary, the gas station, etc. You have to go through a second checkpoint to get to the research facility a few miles away.

Even when you get to the research facility, you still can only get access to the offices and stuff. You have to check out an emergency oxygen mask and emergency shots (needles) before you can enter the lab. To get to the lab, you have to pass through a turn-style gate, sign in at a desk, and proceed through a second turn-style gate. On top of that, only one person can pass through at a time. High fences - lots of concertino wire.

It's kind of nice to know that terrorists can't just waltz in there and grab what they want. They don't make any chemical or biological weapons there. They use simulated agents to test on defensive systems for soldiers. For instance, they have a human head mold that has an artificial breathing apparatus. They stick a gas mask they are testing on it and pour/spray/throw simulated nerve agent on it and see how much gets through after a few seconds/minutes/hours/days etc.

Anyway, none of the stuff I put on here is classified. Hell, most of it was part of the driving instructions they gave me to get there, and the rest was stuff you can find on their website. Anyway, that is what is going on at one of our military facilities.

There is aways more then meets the eye with most( if not all) bases. There is more at dugway then you think.(north and south sites) Its right in the path of the "other" bases. With most bases there are more underground "shops" then above. (out of site, out of mind). This is to keep people out of "there" work. ( keeping things under control) Anyone see any of the contrails(vapor trails) that these planes that fly over always leave? It leaves a different smell floating about. They make a nice thin white cloud over most of sounthern utah. (there is aways 4 planes flying around the pine mountains.)

Im sure that this has nothing to do with anything...
