HTML/BBcode and colours

Topic started on 1-2-2006 @ 12:35 AM by watch_the_rocks

I write the post, incorporate all the lovely colours in, preview it, all fine, then post. To my horror, the HTML/BBcode commands come up! I try everything, but I can't change it. Pretty in the preview, horrible in the post. What am I doing wrong? This is what my colouring code looks like (please don't laugh if wrong)

{color=#cccccc}Very annoying, you see . . .{/color}

-----just swap {/} for [/] because I forget how to deactivate the code.

A few things to keep in mind.

Do not mix bbcode and html code within the same post, it won´t work. And html code will not work for all browsers. So avoid html code if possible.

When using certain bbcode, it may show fine but not when you submit if: you have "special characters" between the tags. I.e. apostrophe. Remove the apostrophe and it might solve your problem.

Blah blah blah - this is bbcode for green color

Testing the "marquee" html code...

The below text will scroll if you are using Internet Explorer as your browser. With other browsers than IE, I don´t know if it will work...

marquee-tag-attempt>scrolling text

Excellent. It works here

But if I quoted your post now, it wouldn´t work. Then it would be a mix of bb-code and html-code within the same post (the quote-tags) ...

It works in Netscape 7.2 also.

Is there a list of BB codes somewhere that I could print out to have as a reference?

Dun - dun - DUHHHH!

Zedd to the rescue! (again).

It just so happens that amongst the wonders and jewels of Zedd's Handbook of ATS Links is a section What is BB Code? which should have all you need to know for ATS posting.
Also you can take a peek here: Can you please explain the BB code to me? .

Jak

Well, my fisr attempt at marquee, was shall we say scary.

I had most of the screen moving right-to-left when I previewed the post, using Forefox
I'll stick with the good ole ATS standbys
