Maps and stats on Israeli settlements

Topic started on 2-10-2003 @ 02:47 PM by Jakomo

www.haaretz.com...

AWESOME place to go check out maps and stats on all of Israel's illegal settlements in Palestine. Where the illegal settlements are, how many, who lives there, what they cost, etc.

Fabulous info for those constantly defending Israel without knowing any of the facts.

These settlements dot the land in Gaza and the West Bank, and they are the source of an incredible amount of bad feelings towards Israel, world-wide. And rightfully so.

Take a look, you'll probably be surprised at how extensive they are.

Almost 40 percent of the Israeli fatalities in the intifada were murdered in the territories. Blame the Palestinian militants for killing them, but blame the settlers as well for being there in the first place.

If you're living in the middle of a lake of fire, you're gonna get burned.

What the hell???!!!
That's the kind of attitude the US government had when they kicked the natives out of their land.
They'd make a treaty, then ten years laters, push the natives back another hundred miles.

Look at America now, they've grown up (besides the KKK and all of those terds)

If you live somewhere you should not be forced to move.
That's what Hitler did.
That's what Stalin did.
That's what will happen with the Victory Act in the United States.

Change your attitude, then come back...

yeh, sure, lets let a russian jew, for example, who has NEVER EVER been in Israel just go there take a piece of land, sh*t load of money and live happily ever after ... but lets make a palestinian family, who can trace their roots on that very same spot of land the last 200 years, just leave their homes and go live with people who treat them like sh*t... that is certainly a solution...
Oh, while we're at it, lets solve the northern Ireland problem, lets move all Irish out of northern Ireland to Poland... they are both white caucasian catholics... so that british protestants can finaly live in peace

Hey as long as steps are taken to allow BOTH groups to live where their heritage is I'm all for it. Comments like "the jews should've taken madagascar" are really a great help

Anyways I agree, people should be given the opportunity to live where they can trace their roots. To me that would mean at least an admission from the PA that the Israelis shouldn't be "pushed into the sea" just as much as it means what jak has advocated against. Agreed?

There were few Irish protestants until the English decided to create' Northern Ireland.

If you knew your history Ireland was all Catholic for hundreds of years.

But when they decided for form their own country, the English didn't like the idea. So they started transplanting 'fake Irish' to colonize the north.

THENEO, whats your point? Of course I now history, I am talking about the PRESENT day and solving problems in the present.
Are you saying we should deport Jews from Israel, since they are the ones who never lived there, they are "transplanted" there to colonize middle east, they are NOT from Israel, their antcestors probably CONVERTED to Judaism at some point in the past, so they are not even the "original" Jews, they are from all over the world, US, Europe, Asia. Is that your point?

We have to solve the problem now, the present situation, which is: there is a state called Israel and there is a group of people called palestinians living in detention camps in west bank ( yeh, detention camps, you dont need a permission to leave a refugee camp to go to the hospital, those cities are more like detention camps) and Gaza. THAT is the situation you have to deal with.

The biggest leap forward towards peace in the Middle East is if they closed down these settlements and gave them back to the Palestinians that they drove out. Not all Palestinians, just the ones they displaced by the settlements.

It would impact a few thousand settlers, it would save a lot of money for the Israeli government (in housing costs and military support) and it would show the Arabs that Israel is serious about peace.
