Dark Energy

Just wantin some feed back on dark energy,as it is 2/3 of the universe how might it be explained comapired to energy we know on earth

who says it exsists?? if its so unknown (searches reveal nothing. there is virtually no explainitory information on the subject) then you have to see that it is obviously a placeholder for something we do not yet understand, and never will.

it has been recent proven. it is what is makin the universe expand. it is an energy source but we know nothing about it or dark matter for that matter. that is why i said i would like some ideas about how this energy can be and perhaps how it might be diffrent than energy as we know it just some ideas on it

Dark Energy is HYPOTHETICALLY what we think is the cause of the expansion of the universe. Its basically the particles of energy in the vaccuum of space, with such a strong negative gravitational force that it's pushing things farther out.

Scientists believe they found evidence of it when examining supernovas in the 90s. Basically, Dark Energy fills the void of space in their theories, and helps maintain the missing mass of the universe.

Is this possibly related to what they call "zero point" energy?

YES!! i read it has been proven (about dark energy) and i was like.. what?? are you retarded? yeah, they proved beyond doubt that the areas of the universe will cant even visit are made of "dark energy"??? I think not.

then i scrolled down and i exclaimed outloud, because WolfofWar said exactly what i was thinking.

so its just a place-holder, like i said.

The Zero-Point energy is a TYPE of Dark Energy. The term Dark Energy is, like Dark Matter, a "catch-all" phrase. However, the Dark Energy we discovered to solidly exist only affects things at the atomic scale. Anything further than that and it barely exists.

So, no, the real culprit is still to be found.
