Well, that's not what I would have thought, but that's the word from La Shawn Barber, who provides us with
some interesting facts about the movement to protect "a woman's right to choose." On second thought, maybe I did think that if there might have
been a racial skew to the abortion statistics, it would have shown a preponderance of abortions by career-oriented, middle and upper class white
females.
However, that doesn't seem to be the case:
Black women are three times as likely to have abortions as their white counterparts. Blacks and Hispanics are about 25 percent of the population,
yet they account for 57 percent of all abortions. Aside from the fact that abortion is murder, there are two very important reasons why black people
should be represented in great numbers at the March for Life rally:
The Planned Parenthood Federation of America makes a futile effort to deny that its founder Margaret Sanger was a eugenicist. Eugenics is a
pseudo-science that claims some races are genetically superior and more fit to survive than others. As a eugenicist, Sanger’s goals were to
discourage the “unfit” and “inferior” from reproducing. In her 1922 book Pivot of Civilization, she called for segregation of “morons,
misfits, and the maladjusted” and sterilization of “genetically inferior races.”
More controversial is Sanger’s “Negro Project,” devised in 1939. The eugenicist set out to implicate black ministers and doctors in her efforts
to spread her message of contraception, sterilization, and abortion in the black community. “The most successful educational approach to the Negro
is through a religious appeal. We do not want the word to get out that we want to exterminate the Negro population, and the minister is the man who
can straighten out that idea if it occurs to any of their more rebellious members,” she wrote.
La Shawn Barber
Ms. Barber points out quite a few interesting facts in her piece, which I believe is worth the read.

The difference in abortion statistics by race might be due to the fact that abortion happens at a greater rate among women who are unmarried nd living
in poverty and blacks and hispanics are more likely to live in poverty and have children while unmarried.
CDC.gov
In the 37 areas for which race was adequately reported, approximately 55% of women who obtained legal induced abortions were known to be white, 36%
were black and 6% were of other races. (Table 9). However, the abortion ratio for black women (529 per 1,000 live births) was 3.0 times the ratio for
white women (177 per 1,000 live births). Additionally, the abortion ratio for women of other races (367 per 1,000 live births) was 2.1 times the ratio
for white women. The abortion rate for black women (31 per 1,000 women) was 3.0 times the rate for white women (10 per 1,000 women). The abortion rate
for women of other races (26 per 1,000 women) was 2.5 times the rate for white women.
Twenty-four states, the District of Columbia, and New York City reported adequate data¶ concerning the ethnicity of women who obtained legal induced
abortions (Table 10). The percentage of abortions known to have been obtained by Hispanic women in these reporting areas ranged from 0.2% in Kentucky
to 46% in New Mexico. For Hispanic women in these reporting areas, the abortion ratio was 261 per 1,000 live births. The abortion rate for Hispanic
women was 19 abortions per 1,000 women.
For women whose marital status was adequately reported, 78% of women who obtained abortions were known to be unmarried (Table 11). The abortion
ratio for unmarried women was 8.6 times the ratio for married women (604 versus 70 abortions per 1,000 live births).

Those numbers are totally bogus... What is her source?
Abortion Facts.com
In 1995 in the US:
White - 349,857 - 57.8%
Black - 205,442 - 33.9%
Other - 32,357 - 5.3%
Unknown - 17,720 - 2.9%

If Blacks make up 12% of the population but are having nearly 34% of abortions. Then there is a problem.
It's the same problem with prison population. Blacks make up 12% of the population but over 50% of prisoners are black.
Can you call this bogus?

I can see where poor women would have greater numbers of abortions. And career-oriented middle and upper class women of all races would have fewer
abortion.
It not racist, it's plain old economics.
These poor women are far less likely to have the same medical benefits as their wealthier counterparts. If they even see doctors at all unless ill.

I think that its valid though, as mentioned above, to look at the proportion of pregnancies. Also, this analysis doesn't take into account black
women who've become pregnant from non-black men, or black men who've gotten non-black women pregnant.
Anyway, since 'race' is a sociological construction, this is all pretty irrelevant anway.
Blacks make up 12% of the population but over 50% of prisoners are black.
But criminals make up, what, 90% or more of the prison population no? So whats it matter? In so far as we are talking about the justice system being
racist. If you mean that there is a wider problem of racism that is 'forcing' those numbers here, then I'd agree.
Also, if abortion becomes illegal, only the wealthier portion of society will be able to have them, and that means that blacks that want an abortion
will be drastically under-represented in those who get them. It also means that of those who die from complications of poorly formed and botched
illegal abortions, the overwhelming majority will be blacks and hispanics, for precisely the same reasons controlling the statisics above.

Ugh
La Shawn Barber is a black conservative columnist and blogger who lives in the Washington D.C. area.
Barber is a native of Rock Hill, South Carolina and received a law degree from Temple University. She took the bar exam on more than one occasion but
did not pass and therefore never practiced law. On about her eighteenth birthday, she became an alcoholic and remained one until a vow of sobriety and
abstinence made shortly before her thirtieth birthday. [1] Soon afterward she moved to Washington, D.C. to serve as a legislative correspondent for a
Democratic senator. Sometime thereafter Barber became a Christian and started to pursue writing.
Barber's articles, book reviews, columns and essays have been published in the Washington Times, Washington Post, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Denver
Post, Baltimore Times, Today's Christian Woman and other publications. Her work has also appeared online in Jewish World Review, National Review
Online, Townhall.com, and other sites.
However, Barber is best known for her weblog, La Shawn Barber's Corner. There she typically writes on issues of religion and politics, typically from
a conservative Christian perspective.
In a recent act of retaliation against Wikipedia, La Shawn Barber has arranged all Wikipedia links linking to her site to redirect to a Teletubbies
website.
I've seen her Coulter act being propped up on a few networks now. Really weak. She'll get her own Conservative Oprah type show soon. They're
pushing her hard.
Here's what other people nobody's ever heard are saying about La Shawn
Barber!
"We've become big fans of blogger La Shawn Barber..."
-Power Line
"She's a rising star of the blogosphere..."
- Hugh Hewitt
"One of my favorite bloggers in the universe..."
- David Limbaugh
"Sweetheart of the Blogosphere..."
- Michelle Malkin
"Her independence of thought and self-evident sense of mission immediately made her a favorite."
- The American Thinker
"She's what's happening, knowledgeable, and too cute to be staying indoors blogging!!!"
- Indigo Insights
(Fake) "La Shawn who?"
- Glenn Reynolds
(Real) "LaShawn Barber...as always, worth reading."
- Glenn Reynolds
She said what about abortion now? Oh nevermind.

I didn't say there wasn't a problem, although I'm not saying there is. I said the numbers are bogus.
The article said 57% of abortions could be attributed to blacks and hispanics. That's not true, It's more like 35%.

Who cares what color the skin is of the woman/girl having the abortion? Its all bad. No one should have one. No one should have to. But they do. And
they pay, abortion or not. That's why the bible says what it does about promiscuity. But just the same, we're not supposed to judge others.
Abortion is between the man the woman and their god. What's the state got to do with that (other than underage abortion)?

Question: When is it Murder and When is it Not?
If someone kills a pregnant woman they can be charged with 2 counts of murder.
So one could assume that the decision is made by the woman that is pregnant (playing God) It's human and murder if she want to keep it, and not human
if she want an abortion. Currect?
What makes us human?
a beeting heart - 22 days after conception.
A functioning brian - within 1 week after conception
Male or Female - Immediately upon fertilization
A Soul - Immediately upon fertilization
HMMM! you decide.

Margaret Sanger ... the Patron UN Saint of
Planned Parenthood ... called abortion the
Final Solution against the heathen blacks
and the poor of the world.
She also praised Hitler for his population control
methods.
swissnet.ai.mit.edu...
Jesse Jackson (while he was a real minister)
USED to say that abortion was
genocide against blacks and that any black
who supported it had been 'bought' by white
America.
swissnet.ai.mit.edu...
www.cnsnews.com/
Excerpt "Abortion is black genocide," Jackson said in 1977.
"What happens to the mind of a person and the moral fabric of a
nation that accepts the aborting of the life of a baby without a pang of
conscience?" he asked.
www.blackgenocide.org...
Statistics from the Blackgenocide site -
Between 1882 and 1968, 3,446 Blacks were lynched in the U.S.
That number is surpassed in less than 3 days by abortion.
1,452 African-American children are killed each day by the heinous act of
abortion.
3 out of 5 pregnant African-American women will abort their child.
Since 1973 there has been over 13 million Black children killed and their
precious mothers victimized by the U.S. abortion industry.
With 1/3 of all abortions performed on Black women, the abortion industry
has received over 4,000,000,000 (yes, billion) dollars from the Black
community.
Abortion's roots are racist. I have no doubt that
many racists see abortion as a wonderful tool to
rid the world of the 'black welfare problem' by
killing black children before they are born.

This is silly! Abortion is a medical process. IT cannot be racist! People can be racist. To try to make it look like abortion is the 'big
bad' because some people might use it as a means of genocide is just an attempt to add more crap to the anti-abortion debate.
If you content that abortion is racist, then guns are also racist, crime is racist sports are racist. These are inanimate objects and practices,
people, without minds or choice. It's the people who can be racist. Put the responsibility where it belongs. With the people. Not their tools.

Surely, it is more a reflection of practices and teaching in those areas?
Abortion tends to be linked to availability to birth control, as well as the teachings of it. If those two factors lack than abortion is likely to be
high.
