I'm a bit old for cuteness, so adoption is no option. Still I need some help. I put in a request for instructions on providing links to a thread, but it seems eveyone is a bit busy, which is understandable.

In my thread 'The Dirty Little Billion Dollar Secret' my links did not work. According to what I read in the handbook, all I needed to do was type them in.

Now I'm a senior citizen with only a few months on a computer, so I'm sure that the fault was in something most of you folks know so well that it never occured to anyone to even need mentioning.

I hate asking a dumb question like this, but since I am self teaching (it's the teacher's fault) on this, for me, new way of communicating, I need guidance.

Would someone U2U me with a hint?

What happened when you made the link? Not clickable?

You can just copy + paste the link in your post and it will come up as a link

or

Use the little globe button above your post making area and enter what you want the link to say, and what the link is.

Example...

www.google.com...

or

Google

Are you sure you copied the entire link, and you didn't have any spaces in it?

Thanks, I was not aware to use a globe/button to make the link. I would try try the copy and paste, as I understand the words themselves, but not the actual steps involved. So, here's a try:

www.reason.org/

Now I will return this and then come see how it works.

O.K. Getting closer, at least it turned blue like everyone else's. Another try:www.cbsnews.com now that was with me clicking to put in the URL(whatever that is). A different try:www.ufocasebook.com

Learning by trial and error is so much fun.

O.K. I think I got it now. I have to put in http:// and then the rest of it. one more just because I'm here and I can.

www.reason.org...

And also, as a side benefit, I get to 'push' two sites I want everyone to see and think about. Win/win.

Say, a practice spot on here somewhere might...nah, there's not too many people as dumb about computers as I am.www.abovetopsecret.com...
www.abovetopsecret.com...

Thanks so muchenjoies, you've been a big help.
www.abovetopsecret.com...
www.abovetopsecret.com...
Okay, so I got carried away with the thumbs up thing. But I'm learning how to place them.I know, stop playing and get serious. But why does it insert the wording for the gif in a place other than where I wanted it to go? HMMM?? Have to work on this I guess.

Thanks again. See, that one I got manually on my keyboard.

I'm still able to adopt any new member. Just reply to me. Better if you quote me so I can find the post faster because this is a large thread that gets a lot of posts. Thanks

Falcon out...

I thought about adopting an old man as my ATS foster child but then I backed out at the last moment. My schedule is hecktic and he was a tad crabby. But if I did choose to adopt one how much would that pay?

Since I have'nt posted in this thread in quite a bit of time..

I am willing to adopt anyone who wants to be.

Just u2u me, or if you are new enough that you don't have enough posts yet,
either post here quoting me, or post in my profile, whichever you want to do.

I promise I don't bite, much, and it's merely coincidence the last two people I adopted
stopped posting after two months..

You mean adopting new members, a silly question considering the thread, but I have to
make sure, since you can never be sure anymore.

Anyways, it's to help new members basically, help them figure out there way around the site.

Oh, and how not to make complete asses of themselves in their first week as members.

I am up for adoption.

I am good with kids, housebroken. Will fetch slippers without eating them.

Low maintenance but very smart and obedient.

Male, not fixed.

Please provide a good home.

not sure if this is the right place but i have tried searching and i keep getting an error. How does one earn more points and get the scholar/fighter etc designations. also, what is the line under the points?

thanks a TON in advance.

You can get points by posting, making threads, podcasts, contests, and getting Applause for good posts.

This thread has all the info you need about Scholar, Fighter, and Writer titles.

And the bar under your points is your Post Bar

Hello all,

I am (relatively) new here, but if someone would like to 'adopt' me, I would be very grateful. I clean up after myself, do my share of the housework and grocery shopping. References are available on request.

Umm, drop me a post on my profile or something if you would like a buddy

In the immortal words of Neds Atomic Dustbin: ta!
