I am new to this cite and dont particularly have interest in super natural connections with the afterlife.. just wanted to state that sylvia browne
is in every sense of the word......unnecessary... regardless if i believe in connection to other spirits.. i do not believe her whatsoever. She
tries to hard to fit the part and her last appearance on larry king was worth the laugh.
I guess i am looking for a response and someone to rebut this b/c from first glance it is obvious that people have strong beliefs on these things..

Alot of people on ATS have strong beliefs in the paranormal, such as myself, but that doesn't automatically mean we have a strong belief in Sylvia
Browne. Some do I am sure.
I know there is a bunch of threads about her prophecies. I suggest using the search function. There is a new tagging system so finding the threads
should be a relative ease.

I was a strong believer of Sylvia Browne for awhile, still am, if you have ever had one of these experiences she has, Im sure you may not be so quick
to dismiss. That being said, anyone who charges 500 US dollars for an hour private reading should have her powers stripped. It is a gift that was
given, and it is not right to profit from it.

I hear that alot, but I still don't understand it.
A ton of people use their gifts to make money.. musicans, artists, scientists, chefs, woodworkers, etc.. Michael Jordan used his gifts to become a
superstar, Albert Einstein used his gifts to make a living. Why should a psychic be any diffrent?
Anyway IMHO Sylvia is a joke.

So you think she's a joke, but you still think it's OK to use her "gift" to rip people off for $500 an hour?
Would you pay a musician $500 to play for an hour? Especialy if that musician was not really playing but tricking you into thinking they were?
But if someone is dumb enough to give her $500 to tell them what they want to hear they've got no one to blaim but themselves.
Con-artists only succeed if people allow themselves to be conned.

Well that was more of a general comment about the "Sin" of using psychic gifts for money not about her doing it.

Sylvia Browne isn't making money off her psychic abilities.
She has none!
She's making money by conning people.
8 years ago she predicted that Bill Bradley would become
president. Not only did he not become president, he didn't
even get the Dems nomination.
dbates - you are right ... there are a few Sylvia Browne threads
already posted. Most folks come to the same conclusion on them -
RUN from her and keep your check book far from her greedy,
non-psychic, mits.

(I know, bumping an old topic.)
Yeah, not only was her Bradley prediction but I can remember that she said Bob Hope and Audrey Hepburn would both die in 1998 or something and they
ended up dying in 2003. She's had numerous other predictions that have failed, but it seems like people only notice the few she has got right.
I don't know why Montel bothers to even put the old slob on anymore. I remember someone online comparing Sylvia to a reptile with her freakishly long
"talons", her "lizard tongue" slopping around on her lips, and her crackly voice. I mean the lady was convicted of FRAUD in 1992 I believe it was,
numerous predictions have failed, she has screwed up on Montel's show so many times to audience people, I mean it's just a big joke.
ere's a FEW of her screw-ups.
All she's doing is giving people false hope. They are stupid for asking her things like "will my daughter die of...?" and Sylvia will say "no"
which of course is a 50/50 answer because I can guarantee Sylvia can answer that question about as good as a tree branch. Then the poor lady gets her
hopes up thinking her daugter will live, and she ends up not surviving. I'm sure that has happened many of times, she has no psychic abilities
therefore everything she tells everyone is nothing but a deceptive lie.
When she fails on the show or the guest doesn't believe her, Montel always steps in and tries to take the negative attention off of her. Damn, come
on, get this woman off of the air and behind bars. The only ability she has is bullsh*tting naive people that are dumb enough to believe her, her
books, and all of her lies that Montel keeps allowing to happen.

that.Wasn't there some kind of challenge that was offered to her?

Yep, James Randi offered her $1,000,000 to see if she would take a test in a controlled environment. She accepted (this was on Larry King Live) only
to refuse to do anything about it until nearly 5 years later when she made an excuse like "well I won't do it until Randi can prove he has the
money." Yeah right, like it takes 5 years to think up a lame excuse like that.
She was on CNN 5 days before the 9/11 attacks didn't predict them, GEE I WONDER WHY.
Remember the Sago Mine disaster and how the media wrongfully reported that 12/13 were alive, instead of how only 1 actually was? Well while that was
happening Sylvia acknowledged what the media was saying that 12 were alive. Then when they found out only 1 was alive, Sylvia quickly changed her
story.
Anyone that believes anything she says needs to have their head examined.
I was laughing my head off the other day on Montel when some woman dolt came on camera talking to Sylvia saying "oh I absolutely love you..."
"I've read all of your books..." "the last time I spoke with you at one of your conventions..." God, get a life woman.

I think Sylvia should charge a lot less for readings instead of the thousands she demands from average people.
She did, however, on the Larry King show, predict that the twin towers would come down to the ground- I watched that day, and it did come true.
She;s not without some insight, but she's too expensive and is money hungry.

I have yet to see any reason to doubt her sincerity... I suppose she has had some failures.. The most recent and obvious one was her "prediction"
that all of the miners were alive. They weren't..
However....if you remember right, the initial word from the "official" story was that all but one of them was alive.. Remember!!?? Then, about an
hour later they came back on to say that all but one of them were dead. So, perhaps when she initially made her "prediction" they were all alive.

No prolem. I saw it with my own eyes,. The only thing i' can suggest
is you call CNN and ask for the transcript- She said this in the summer of 2001, AS I WATCHED.
Sorry, nothing more i can do. Either believe me, or dont.

No she made her initial prediction right after she heard they were alive. She was live on air with George Noory at the time. Later after George
apologised for the news report being wrong, Sylvia had to squirm her way out of it and change her mind and then said she knew they were all dead.
Fraud
