Pesticide spraying may hold the key to an unsolved mystery involving the collapse of hundreads of children more than 20 years ago.

In July 1980 almost 300 children who were in a brass band competition in a field near Kirkby-inAshfield, Nottinghamshire, were hit by vomiting, runny noses and sore eyes.

The cause of the children's systoms was never pinpointed, however health authorities at the time suggested it was a result of mass hysteria.

But an investigation by BBC's Inside Out documentary team has discovered that the pesticide tridemorph - which was sprayed near fields at the time of the incident but later banned in 2000 - may have caused the reaction.

Well I find this strange that its taken over 20 years for anything to come out of this, why couldnt they have done a intence investigation 23 yrs ago when it first happened?

Have been trying to find out if any of the children or adults that were affected, and still had any side effects now, as yet there's no luck but will keep trying to find something.

Sounds like a sound theory....

Most of the cases of "Mass Hysteria" have turned out to be chemical in nature... Take the werewolf/vampire sightings in Europe in the middle ages for example. When cross-referenced with flood patterns, you find that the flooded fields of wheat/rye correspond with the sightings areas, and they started to do the math. Mold was growing on the grains...and was equivalent to PCP....
So basically, everyone was eating laced bread, etc.

I dont believe in mass halucinations unless they are chemically induced.

For instance, if say 1000 people on the ground at a city park look up and see transexual aliens flying space pintos, and no toxins, chemicals, ect are present in the food, drink, or air, then, well, the guys at area 51 better get thier asses over tocheck it out.

1000 people dont hallucinate the same exact thing. hallucinations vary from person to person.

Agreed.

It's really unfortunate that it took so long to attach an alternate explanation for this event.

Gazrok, equivalent to PCP?! That's awful!
