Drew Levin: New Documentary Division Launched at TMC
Drew Levin Brings a new world into the TMC Universe.
Drew Levin’s TMC Entertainment has launched TMC Docs, a new division that will produce primetime historical and contemporary documentaries for the
worldwide market.
The division launches with Walking the Bible, produced for PBS in collaboration with WGBH (Boston) and presenting station KQED (San Francisco). The
three-hour high-definition miniseries, scheduled to air in January, is based on the New York Times bestselling book of the same name by award-winning
author Bruce Feiler.
Walking the Bible also marks the beginning on a new alliance between TMC and WGBH. The agreement calls for WGBH to provide sales and marketing
expertise in the international markets for Walking the Bible, as well as domestic retail home video and DVD distribution for the project. WGBH will
also work to secure domestic sponsorship and underwriting for key TMC programming. Further, TMC and WGBH are in discussions to create an agreement
whereby WGBH would become a co-producer of select upcoming TMC epic documentaries.
Drew Levin and TMC Entertainment
has also signed a production agreement with U.K.-based Maya Vision International, co-producer of
Walking the Bible. Maya Vision will serve as co-producer and handle the filming of TMC Docs’ slate. The next feature-length documentary series to be
produced under the TMC Docs banner, in association with WGBH and Maya Vision International, is the 6-hour The Route to Christianity, a look at the
sites of early Christianity. The company is also currently in discussions with author Bruce Feiler to produce a miniseries based on his Where God Was
Born.
