The Mayor of New Orleans, Ray Nagin, today [16th of January] said that "God is mad at America". This starling revolation came during the marking of Martin Luther King Day. He later went on to describe an imaginary conversation with Martin Luther King Jr.
Mayor Ray Nagin suggested Monday that Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and other storms were a sign that "God is mad at America" and at black communities, too, for tearing themselves apart with violence and political infighting.

"Surely God is mad at America. He sent us hurricane after hurricane after hurricane, and it's destroyed and put stress on this country," Nagin, who is black, said as he and other city leaders marked Martin Luther King Day.

"Surely he doesn't approve of us being in Iraq under false pretenses. But surely he is upset at black America also. We're not taking care of ourselves."

Well...after he came forward, claiming that the C.I.A. were going to "Take Him Out" he know lays down saying God has punished the City.

To me, it does raise an important question one which I see people never answering; "Why does God punish innocent people"? Hopefully, this will actually bring some debate and light onto the subject and he won't just be called a crackpot.

Maybe 'cause "innocent people" keep voting for panic-inducing, buck-passing incompotents like Nagin. If that's His reason, I say, "GO GOD!!!"

Seriously, though, this guy must be having a mental breakdown (In my completely unexpert opinion). He sure does say a lot of whakadoo things.

Wont these nut cases stop coming out of the woodwork?????

What the $%#@ has happened to this country. I swear there are more possesed people around than you can shake a stick at.

I wish these religious fanaticals would shut up. Ignorants.

This is also being discussed here -

There are some links to things Nagin has done and said.

Considering this guy wants New Orleans to be an exclusive
'black only club' ... I certainly hope the other ethnic and
racial groups vote him out next time. He can't be trusted
to represent everyone's interests, can he?

He apologized. Too late as far as I'm concerned.
His racism and ignorance are now bared for all to see.
