Xinhua Onlie

Russian navy command ordered on Saturday its Black Sea Fleet to regain access to the lighthouse in the Crimean city of Yalta, blocked by Ukraine one day earlier, according to the Interfax news agency.

"The Russian navy command's position is firm: the Yalta lighthouse must be reincorporated into the Black Sea Fleet's hydrographic service and function properly to ensure safe navigation in the Black Sea region," Russian Navy commander-in-chief Vladimir Masorin was quoted as saying by Interfax.

Ukraine rejected the Russian complaint, claiming "the lighthouse is Ukrainian property" in a statement. It said the lease allowing the presence of the Russia's fleet does not give it right to use hydrographic sites and navigation equipments.

Masorin said he has given order to the Black Sea Fleet commander to reseize the lighthouse, by "methods of civilized discussion".

Can you Explain to me, how does the Russian Navy Resize the Lighthouse by methods of civilized discussion?

You don't send Warshops to conduct discussions - you send Diplomats!

Well since recent dispute between Ukraine and Russia - could this be Further escalation of this Conflit between these two Countries?

Did I just witness the first ever post by Souljah that didn't involve an anti-American rant?? Hang on while I go outside to see if the sun still exists!!

As to the article itself... that is pretty ironic that the Russian commander is sending a naval fleet to conduct "methods of civilized discussion."

So let's recap, shall we? The Russian navy is on a mission of civilized discussion and Souljah made a post that didn't mention America. What's next? Osama bin Laden speaking at my church on Sunday morning???

Yalta lighthouse to be returned to Russia’s Black Sea Fleet soon

(Image is from the BBC News site)

“Admiral Masorin is absolutely confident the Yalta lighthouse will soon be returned to the hydrographical service of the Russian Black Sea Fleet,” Igor Dygalo, aide to the Russian Navy chief commander, told Itar-Tass on Saturday.

He warned that the Ukrainian side’s actions were impairing the system’s normal operation and creating the risks of navigation incidents at sea.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has described the incident as an attempt by certain forces in Ukraine to aggravate the situation over the Russian Black Sea Fleet again.

Interesting - looks like Ukraine is trying to Create an Incident in the Black Sea.

Latest on this:

Talks on Yalta lighthouse yield no results

The talks on the settlement of the situation over the Yalta lighthouse yielded no results, said Captain First Rank Igor Dygalo, aide to the Russian Navy commander-in-chief.

“During the talks, the Ukrainian delegation led by the Yalta seaport head denied that Russia’s Black Sea Fleet took on lease this facility,” the Navy aide said.

I am really Interested how Ukraine and Russia are going to Solve Yet Another Conflict between them.

The Ukrainian foreign ministry has previously accused the Russian Black Sea fleets of violating the conditions of their long-standing agreement by refusing to hand over navigational facilities.
