Why Are People Obsessed With Hollywood?

If only people could be obssesed with Hollywood and talk about Hollywood the same way with other topics like say...Stopping the mass murder in Sudan, providing better farm techniques to various parts of the world or how to create a room temperature superconductor.

But that is what you get in America and through out the world at large. I spend about 12 hours a week watching television and maybe 20 hours on the computer and that is it, and I still consider it too much. I'd like to cut it down to STL:TNG 4 times a week, 24 and Daily Show when I can and just 12 hours on the PC.

I think people are just unwilling to stay active. Talking about Hollywood or reading about them celeburteez gives them a sense that they are actually being productive.
Fat, lazy, incompetent...that's why the foreigners are taking jobs left and right in Silicon Valley and elsewhere...maybe I don't know what I am talking about.
