Well, I was going through some old files and I found a file for ATS suggestions I wrote up in July, and the one thing I kept meaning to shine some
light on, is when your banned from chat (like me, yeah yeah, I'm such a horrible person ), when you go to log into it it says, "You have been
baned!", now unless baned is some sort of alternative punishment to banning, the program spells banned wrong.
Just thought it would be an interesting little glitch to point out.

Actually I'ma-commie, you are wrong, its not a spelling mistake as much as a gramatical error. "baned" might not be a word as well but thats
besides the point.
What it means is you are a souce of bane.
www.answers.com...&r=67 A source of persistent annoyance or exasperation: “The spellings of foreign names are often the bane of busy
copy editors” (Norm Goldstein).
You are the bane of ATS therefore you are unable to use the chat.
Hope this helps

One defenition for bane is a source of persistent annoyance or exasperation.
Perhaps they are trying to tell you something.
EDIT: I see Netchicken got that in before me, he's the bane of my existence.

Not sure if you did that on purpose, but at least it's consistent! In an English exam you'd only lose a mark for the first incorrect spelling, the
rest would be left alone...

 , persistent.
Umm, I don't really remember, but I'm sure it was probably for being a rambunctious(SP?) little punk.

The Sith Will Rise Again
1000 years before the Battle of Yavin, the Sith Lord Darth Bane terrorized the Old Republic.
Thought to have been destroyed a millennium ago, he was recently found to have been hired as a chat moderator for AboveTopSecret.com.
Ever since, unruly ATS chat users have lived in fear of logging in and seeing the blood-chilling words:
"You have been baned!"
I'm surprised nobody mentioned this already.

They were lenient on you due to the extended period of you being here.
The Admins made an error, errors show they are human and on a website this size there will be many - which Skeptic is reducing by the day.
You are lucky that they didn't fully ban you and their is no purpose of this thread but to cause drama, in my opinion. If you cared so much about the
mistake you would have used the gripe function to let them know.

Odium,
I figure they already know, and just dont consider it something important enough to fix right this second, the point of this thread is to make people
laugh, theres way to much seriousness in the world (real and cyber), I'm just trying to lighten the mood.
Oh, and as for the banning thing, I dont mind really, so it's all good, I'm not complaining.

Actually it was supposed to read "You have been caned!"
A little "corporal" punishment, perhaps?

I think that particular punishment only applies to the ATS Singapore chapter (ouch!).
On the bright side, it could be much worse.
If this were a gaming site, the punishment might well be...
“You have been PWND!”
