A somewhat old article, yet it is worth reading.

bullion stolen, its crew and passengers sold to white slave traders and a "fake" wreck created to cover up for this near-perfect super crime.
WTF? 
That is the first I’ve heard of that one.
As for the rest of the article, it is dead on in it’s observation on the relationship of paranoia to conspiracy theories.
