Is there any way of becoming a moderator and if so, what is it and what does the job require?

Moderator appointments are only through invitation by senior site staff and/or ATS owners.

Never asking to be a mod.

Out of curiousity, why would you want to be a mod? Do you like drama? Is it an ego thing? Power-tripper? I was a mod on other BBs, and it was the
worst experience of my life (not really). I hated having to be the bad guy. It sucked. I got sick of being called a Nazi. My hat's off to those
that put up with it.

Mods are picked by running their posts through a special software utility, called "the 8-ball."
It gives a one-time statement about whether a given member should ever recieve the accolade of mod:
a) "As I see it, yes."
b) "No."
c) "ask me later."
Mods are very busy, scanning posts for unseemly content, while they await the chance to greet another soul that has "passed over" to the angelic
choir, of which they are all members.
They also draw the chariot of the Sun thought the underworld each night, and then greet the dawn.

I see this question a lot.
Honestly?
Don't ask
Conduct yourself in accordance with the rules
Don't be afraid to ever say you're wrong
Try for quality posts (over quantity)
Keep your cool even when in heated debate
Help others when you can
Be honest (yes, sometimes there are tests)
There are probably a few more, but that is off the top of my head. People Do get noticed following these step and others get noticed NOT following
these steps. Bottom line is if you really, really want the job...you're probably not cut out for it.
And time is not a factor. Some have been asked to Mod that haven't been here as long as others.
After that....invite only.

Sure, we make sure the rules are followed.
But, we also get to welcome and help new members. Abort drama. Mediate. Help keep
D-egos in check. It's an overall positive experience.
And, if you think you want to be a mod...DON'T ask, like SO said.
The best way is to be a good and responsibile member.
However, I don't think most of us mods ever came to ATS with the desire to become a mod. I know I didn't

Yeah, like being the winner of a sick and twisted game/contest that drove many ATS members to the brink of sanity, including myself.
I think that game/contest was some kind of psyops in disguise.
Peace

Good thing you stopped at the brink. Driving you all the way to sanity could have caused you to leave. That would be bad.

I dont think that matters like what Zedd Said Your posts should be about Quality not Quantity And from my experience on tons of forums You should
never ask Just Make nice strong posts and act like a sane person and maybe you will get noticed

Are you kidding? Most of us have and will do so ona variety of topics. As Intrepid pointed out, you have to stay within the boundries of the Terms
and conditions. Wait till you see staff arguing opposites sides of a heated issue
