I wasn't trying to tie nazis to the US, hence the introduction about hating to use the example. But some people simply will not accept that there are power hungry individuals out there willing to do anything to gain power unless you rub an example in their face. Hitler fabricated a crisis which was blamed on others in order to raise his power level. This formula works, and should be given serious consideration.

Osama played a role in driving the Russians out of Afghanistan. He has plenty of experience of preservation on the field of battle. When you are part of an insurgency to drive out a major superpower like the Russians in such a wild place, then hiding becomes preservation.

soficrow, the facts are that Hitler was a national socialist who believed democracy only weakened a country, because minorities were weak. You can see some of the roots of socialism, althou Hitler hated "true" socialism as much as he hated democracy because they both gave some power to the minorities, in Hitler Youth camps, which in the later 1920s was made compulsory and every young boy or young girl until age 18 had to attend for "the good of Germany", to maintain the country strong.

You can find similar Youth Camps in true socialist/communist countries.

Hitler's government was one of socialism but only for the good of Germany (National) and the "Aryan" nation. You can call it all you want, but that's not going to change the facts, it was a national socialist movement, also known as nazism.

So are you saying that NO crazy plan of the US was ever carried out? I seem to recall several shady things appearing on CNN over the paet few years.

The goverment of the US has done some really boneheaded things. Iran/Contra seemed like a good idea at the time. So did aiding our buddies the Taliban. Both have come back to bite us on the hiney.

Lets not forget the war started with spain for cuba. It was rummored that we sunk our own ship, blaming it on spains coastal defenses of the island firing on our ship. The interesting part is that at that time, the coastal defenses of the particular area where it was supposed to have been fired on, only had historic cannons on display. There was no way that an iron ball could have gone through an iron ship, causing it to blow. There were more modern counterparts in place, just not operational, or ready. I'm a spaniard by nationality, and it is well known amongst us that the spanish american war was started under false pretenses. We did it once and were succesful, why not again.

This conspiracy theory sounds great and all, but do you think that the U.S. Government could actually keep all of those people on those planes silent for this long? These people had families waiting for them somewhere. I don't think that many of these people who had children, would be able to look their children/families in the face, knowing that they were involved in this thing with all the poor soles that perished that day. It would be a strange thing indeed knowing that you were partly responsible for the death of over 2,000 people. The government would have to kill all of these people. As liberal as this country is today, I just don't think that it could be kept silent. But that's just me.

If you read the Northwood documents, those people on those planes had false identities. They got off the planes that were to be destroyed and went back to their lives. They would have had no idea what they had just been a part of. Even if they had figured it out, as part of the intelligence community they would have kept it a secret.
