As to the why post over 5 ? Well, I'm thinking that if enough info is available a pattern may show. 5 is just a number that worked for me. Not a small one, but potential the size that could indicate a bigger one coming. There is always a pattern of some type.

Magnitude 5.7 - SICILY, ITALY

The European report is slightly different, reporting 5.9 magnitude and depth 226km.
