Brain-eaters? Or harmless dirt feeders?

I was just wondering what you guys thought about earwigs. They're quite creepy as I'm sure you'd expect, and I've always had a sedative-required phobia against them. I guess I was simply hoping you guys could fill me in on the gorey (or hopefully not-so-gorey) truth.

They're ugly, but pretty harmless actually, consuming small insects and plant matter ... not at all related to that critter in the Star Trek movie.

They arent more human-killers/brain-eaters than any other bug at that size.. I can assure you of that!

I think they're just really, really gross. I'm scared of all gross things. So i'm with you.
