Simple question really.

Will cheney be taking over from GWB?

If so will things be getting better or worse?

Oh, we all better hope not. I would rather have ten George W. Bushes than 1 Cheney.

I pray George W. Bush stays and fulfills his term. This coming from me, is saying a lot.

You dont think Bush would be ousted, do you? That will never happen.

Coming from someone on the outside fringes of politics at this time, but still maintaining my knowledge of political strategy, I would have to say no. He is not a viable candidate and they would be foolish to even attempt it.

My guess at the moment is McCain. I could be wrong, but I see a lot of signs that he is being groomed and promoted. I could be wrong, but they need a candidate with less partisan reaction and he fits.

If they go for Cheney, it would make a lot of republicans even think twice. It would not be good.

well... in all seriousness. after bush stole the election. how hard would it be for cheney to do the same thing.

A lot of people are skeptical of Bush being a puppet for oil, Cheney would be ten times worse. Incidently this reminds me of a Jay Leno that went something like this;
"If Cheney runs for president in 2008 and wins, he'll be the first president since FDR to run the white house for three terms."

First of all don't forget that medically Cheney is not suitable for president he has various health related problems.

Including various strokes, he will never pass a clean bill of health for president.

Cheney's not a politician, which means that he's not a smooth, effortless, convincing and charismatic liar. He's an executive, which means that he's an arrogant, pushy, sociopathic bully.

Americans can be convinced to elect a liar, if he's convincing enough, but they're far less likely to elect a bully.

And honestly, I doubt that Cheney has much interest in being president anyway. I would imagine that he's far more comfortable slinking around backstage, wielding power and cutting deals and courting allies and torpedoing enemies outside of the relentless glare of the spotlight.

I'm pretty sure Dick Cheney has stated numerous times in public that he has no interest in becoming the president. I just did a google search to check, and from Wikipedia, under 'Dick Cheney' it says

In 2004, he reaffirmed this position strongly on Fox News Sunday, saying, "I will say just as hard as I possibly know how to say... 'If nominated, I will not run,' 'If elected, I will not serve,' or not only no, but 'Hell no,' I've got my plans laid out. I'm going to serve this president for the next four years, and then I'm out of here."

Looking from the outside in I would say that if Cheney wins the Republican ticket in 2008 we could see a political battle for the American right. There dosnt seem to be meany viable choices for the voter who dislikes the concept of big government ,governmnet being a puppert of coprate interests or abolishing state welfare completely.

Oh gawd. He didn't steal it. Kerry LOST it. Just about
any other Democrat could have won. Kerry, and his wife, lost the
election all on their own.

The next president will be HILLARY. I see her asking McCain to be
a VP and to stay republican and he will accept. It has been done
before andI think they'll do it. She'll pick Joe Biden to be Secretary
of State. He's qualified, but his recent remarks about pulling out of Iraq
ala Vietnam style make me very nervous. He doesn't understand
why that can't be done.

The Republicans will run either Frist or Guiliani ...or both. Both are
qualified. Both are good people. Both are intelligent and can make
sound decisions in difficult situations. Frist is a moderate republican
and Guiliani is a liberal republican - at least as far as I'm concerned.

It will be close, but Hillary will win in 2008. Bill will be 'First Guy' and
Hillary will have the Secret Service keeping an eye on him when she's
on trips out of the country.
Monica-gate will be small peanuts
compared to what he will do as First Guy .. all that time on his hands,
and the Lincoln Bedroom at his beck and call.

Four heart attacks. I don't think he's ever had a stroke.
He has a pacemaker as well. But you are right marg ..
he's not medically fit to be president. Considering that,
I am surprised that he's VP. The VP is supposed to be
able to slide into the Pres. seat on a moments notice if
needed. Cheney is politically savy and could run things,
but his ill-health does make things dicey!

Nah. Too old, too frail, to disliked. Doesn't really bring anything to the table as president, especially after being vice president.

If so will things be getting better or worse?

Cheney is the one behind the so-called "Bush Doctrine" of pre-emption. He's a 'radical/fanatical' republican of the old school. In this hypothetical situation, with Cheney as president you'd see no difference, expect probably less pandering to the religious right, or at least the pandering would be more obviously insincere.

Relentless
My guess at the moment is McCain.

The Party doesn't back McCain. He'd be a candidate of last resort, and the way the machinery is set up, after the primaries the Party wouldn't be able to change candidates. I, personally, expect that Frist will be a possibility.
If the party was really desperate and really in trouble, like if they were loosing the presidential race, especially to someone that might set up some sort of Democrat dynasty, and were loosing the congress, or something spectacular, then they might drop the nuke.
A Rice-Powell Ticket.

Cheney won't be President (barring something awful happening to Bush). He has no desire to be President.

Hillary doesn't have a prayer. She's unelectable on a national ticket, despite her "center leaning" proclivities of late. It wouldn't keep the Dems from nominating her, and I think the Republicans would love to see her run, but no way she can win.

Jeb Bush? Don't laugh... It could happen.

Jeb has said that he won't run. Not only has he said it .. but
his family baggage won't allow it. His daughter has major drug
problems and his wife ... well ... remember her bringing in
thousands of dollars in goods without declaring????

Condi said she won't run. I believe her. She can make more
on the outside. She'll go for the $$$.

IF Cheney was to resign due to health problems, then Condi
would be named VP. That's the only way she'd be in the White
House.

IMHO

I hope that that bars him from being president. Maybe bush would do something to get rid of the test or let cheney get around it.

Actually, Cheney will be 65 next month.
Reagan was 70 when he became president, so Cheney has a few years to go to be older than that.

But, besides that, I don't see Cheney in the oval office unless something were to happen to bush before the '08 elelction.
Also, just about the best insurance that nothing will happen to Bush, much like Clinton had Gore as his insurance policy.

Frankly, with the exception of Bush and his trying to change
the Constitution, I think Cheney has been running things
anyways. Bush is just the front that Cheney & Co uses.
Bush struck out on his own with the change to the
constitution about Gay Marriage ... which Cheney
promptly got on TV to say he was against. Notice that
it went nowhere.

I think we've already had President Cheney for these
past two terms.
