Move by MPA to make tablature illegal

well i was just visiting my favorite tablature download site, (which is not illegal and not a form of piracy)

aparrently there is a move by the MPA to ban it, and throw people who use it in jail.

i use powertab, a freeware tablature program. it can be found hear-

this is a really handy program for tabbing your own songs and stuff.

is there any one hear who is an actuall recording artist? who has an opinion on this?

or people who use these tabs, what your veiw on this?

I always visit mxtabs.net when I need a quick tab.

The problem you have is that a lot of tabs are taken from books and this is breaking the law. Most tab sites do this...the free programs will more than likely still be made, as will the tabs even if it is illegal.

This move, might help to get bands to pre-tab their own songs and have them out their for free rather than not having them out there and only poor copies. Which most of them are...

Edit: Just to clear up my point, I'm a Dj have been for a few years off and on now [pay my way through Uni] as well as a classical musician [guitar+piano].

Thats kinda sad, how are people who can't afford lessons supposed tp learn how to play? I have been learning bass through the use of tablature.

Eventually when you get even just a little experienced on your instrument, you can figure the song out anyways by ear.
