Copyright in PODcasting - Confused

Topic started on 21-12-2005 @ 01:10 PM by Benevolent Heretic

Is it or is it not a violation of a copyright to perform a song written by someone else in a PODcast?

For example, If I wanted to play and sing a Bonnie Raitt song and PODcast it on BTS music, would that be illegal?
A violation of her copyright?
Against the board rules?
Or fine and dandy?

I apologize for my confusion, but I would like to get this answered once and for all.

Thank you!

Probably not, as long as you give credit to the original artist? Just my thought..

If it would not be appropriate/legal to sell the song on your own, it's not legal for a podcast.
