WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid called the Republican-led Congress "the most corrupt in history" on Sunday, and distanced himself from lobbyist Jack Abramoff, at the center of an escalating probe.

R euters

The Justice Department is investigating whether Jack Abramoff directed illegal payoffs to lawmakers, including Rep. Tom DeLay of Texas, who was forced to step down as House Republican leader in September after indicted in his home state of Texas on unrelated charges.

Reid, like many members of Congress, Democrats and Republicans, has received campaign contributions from Abramoff clients. Some lawmakers have returned those donations, but Reid gave no indication he would do so.

The Securities and Exchange Commission has been examining stock sales by Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, a Tennessee Republican, and last month Randy "Duke" Cunningham, a California Republican, resigned from the House after pleading guilty of taking more than $2.4 million in bribes involving defense contracts.

"America can do better than what we've done," said Reid. "The most corrupt Congress in the history of the country. We have such significant problems with what's going on in this country."

Is that Really what You want the entire World to see and know about current American Adminsitration and the entire Congress?

Sorry, but that's the News you are making.

Wars.

Corruptions.

Scandals.

Abuses & Tortures.

But as long as the BEST president is running the United States - what can go wrong?

"See, in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda."

Ha, Harry Reid said this? Harry Reid is going to say whatever he can to undermine the President and Congress so the democrats can win seats in the congress. I would give this claim more credibility if it were from a non-biased source. I wonder how much credibility you would give to Republicans accusing the Democrats of this, surely not the same amount, correct?

Senator Reid merely pointed out, that there is a Significant Corruption going on in the US Senate - he said that many members of Congress, Democrats and Republicans, has received campaign contributions from Abramoff clients - which only points out that the Corruption is Widespread and not just focused on the Republican party.

Frankly I do not give a damn if they are Reps or Dems - they are both Corrupt and made out of the same Cloth!

I've heard from various news sources in the past few months that the corruption rate could be as high as 60%. Alarming to me and all of you I'm sure. But I dont think its anything new, and certainly not shocking as you can see corruption in public officials as far back as history can take us. But that doesnt excuse anything of this nature, there needs to be an independent committie dedicated to watch the wallets of our congressmen and women, I know its intrusive but if anyone has a better plan lemme know.

This comment seems a bit at odds with your spectacular headline.

I am wondering Mr. Souljah, what is the congress - if any - in your country like?

In fact, what country are you from?
And what country do you live in now?

I'm always suspicious of those who hide behind the cloak of anonymity whether it's just being a cyber tough guy or simply afraid to note their country so we have perhaps a better understanding of your bitterness.

The Untied States Congress is not the only people that are "corrupt as you say". Look at Germany, or England, or even Iraq. All of those government members have recieved contributions from parties to get something passed, or paid off. So Souljah, why don't you try picking on some other thing that we don't know about.
And the coruption is called politics. Get used to it.

HEY - I do not see Germany, England OR Iraq INVADING foreign countries.

I do not see their Goverments using LIES and DECEPTIONS to start Wars.

The US want to be a kind of a Role Model of a Civlized Democratic Free Society - yet it is a nothing but another Empire, like many before.

Roman Empire was Mighty once too.

Then the Corruptions in the Senate Started...

Yeah maybe because they don't have anything else to invade, and they don't have a reason to. Because they don't allow the news to get into the media. Thats why you don't hear about the LIES and DECEPTIONS of other nations. Not every nation has what the US calls Freedom of the Press. Many nations surpress what can and can't be said in the media.

What should the US be, besides an Empire.
Empires are also not bad.

Lets look at the word Empire

Source

Main Entry: em·pire
Pronunciation: 'em-"pIr
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, from Old French empire, empirie, from Latin imperium absolute authority, empire, from imperare
1 a (1) : a major political unit having a territory of great extent or a number of territories or peoples under a single sovereign authority; especially : one having an emperor as chief of state (2) : the territory of such a political unit b : something resembling a political empire; especially : an extensive territory or enterprise under single domination or control
2 : imperial sovereignty, rule, or dominion

Hmmm sounds like an Empire.

Sure.

That is why the US has Ranked 44th on the World Press Freedom Index this Year - somewhere in the Black Hole between Macedonia and Bolivia. Now you may THINK that you have "Freedom of the Press" - but that Freedom is nothing compare to the FREEDOM OF THE CORPORATE PRESS, which can do anything and call that News.

What should the US be, besides an Empire.
Empires are also not bad.

Empires are not Bad - for their own Good.

Empires just think how to stay alive and how to expande even Further.

Empires need wars to stay alive - that is their Food.

America Empire Today needs Terrorism - without it, the Empire collapses.

An Empire looses its Strenght and Power without its "Super Enemy".

The Technology might be better then the Roman Times - but the Human Nature is the Same and the Nature of the Empire remains the Same and it is doomed to repeat the same mistakes yet again.

The US Congress actually is a hotbed of scandalous corruption right now. It's not what it was meant to be by a long stretch. There's multi-millionaires in there in their 4th, 5th and 6th terms, doing the exact opposite of what their districts need. Indeed, some of these career politicians are just flat out lying to the people they supposedly represent.

The people's house was set up to be a place of representation. Where farmers and preachers and regular working people would go represent their district for 2 years, then go home, being replaced with other regular working people from the district. Not this. Not these jellyfish, owned by special interests, taking millions of dollars to run for re-election every two years, just to hold on to power.

Power mad Tom DeLay ruined Congress. He made it the mob. Ruled by force, and run by "favors."

Who owns your "representative?" Cause it sure aint you.

Mine does more for Honduras than NC. Because Tom DeLay says so.

REPLY: Wonderful country.... when was the last time anyone bought anything made in Slovenia? (excluding Souljah)

The ATS link provided was not a reliable source.

Ummmm.... Iraq invading countries.... ever heard of Kuwait?

Lies and deceptions to start a war..... this PROVES the obvious... that you discount every single bit of evidence presented as to the links between Al-Queda and Iraq, an Iraq's WMD's moved to Syria and Libya.
...........................................

".... The Securities and Exchange Commission has been examining stock sales by Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, a Tennessee Republican, and last month Randy "Duke" Cunningham, a California Republican......"

REPLY: Which are a separate issue, and have nothing to do with the Abramoff campaign donations... which have yet to be proven they came from an illegitimate souce.
The entire Abramoff issue is going to go by the wayside just like Enron did, because it was found to be tied to the left more than anything else.
..........................................

Torture?... link(s) please? Putting panties on someones head is not torture, 'nor is something akin to "naked Twister." Hanging someone from a lamp post and setting them on fire, IS.

RANT: You're correct.... we need to get back to 4 year term limits for Congress and the Senate. The states were supposed to be represented for two year terms, and the Senate was supposed to be there for four years, to oversee the representatives. As bad as it is needed, that is one amendment to the Constitution that will be difficult to get repealed.

I still find it odd as to whySouljah hates the country that helped free his country, and as yet I've not found him to write anything bad about Castro, etc.

REPLY: $68,941.00 to be exact. Reid mentioning that both sides accepted money..... which does not mean it was illegal or illigitimate. However, I have before me a list of 39 Dems. who accepted money, and Reid says it's a Republican scandal.... the pot calling the kettle black.
The only thing you hear in the news is about the Republicans.... who are the ones giving the money back..... but Reid won't. Outrageous.

The United States (44th) fell more than 20 places, mainly because of the imprisonment of New York Times reporter Judith Miller and legal moves undermining the privacy of journalistic sources.
(From Link provided)

This issue was in accordance with our laws, and was not a "legal move." Those involved in leaks pertaining to national security or government information must be held accountable. All other aspects of privacy of sources are in effect, and protected by law.
No matter what the issue, the judges in our courts have the right to jail those who refuse to answer a question asked by a judge. Isn't it that way in Slovenia?

Everything they say is Biased, since Jacques Iraq is Basicly MARRIED to Muslim Terrorists and how COULD he NOT answer the call of the Brave Bush President, to Liberate Iraq!

Well, this is MAINSTREAM news here in Europe, nothing Biased[/I], nothing New - just something everybody Anticipated. But I Guess that for somebody living on the Other side of the Steel Curtain, that makes it somewhat biased.

Go figure.

Who is Jacques Iraq? And, of course, you fail to reply to the other parts of my posts.

I've read the entire post, about Slovenia, that you provided. It is indeed very informative and enlightening. Fairly good economy; a member of NATO; moving away from Marxism (although mandatory health insurance is a bit frightening, and still Socialist). It would appear, however, that you are among the very few in Slovenia that hate America. In fact, many of the things both political and economic are a direct result of help from and cooperation with America:

"President Decorates US Senator for Supporting Slovenia."

Ljubljana, 3 May

"..President Janez Drnovsek has decorated George Voinovich, a US senator of Slovenian-Serbian descent, for his merits in Slovenia's international affirmation and in the promotion of friendship between Slovenia and the United States.

The president thanked the senator for the support in Slovenia's accession to NATO, as well as for his contributions to the promotion of its relations with the US, and with the Slovenian community in Ohio, the state Voinovich comes from." (Cleveland, Ohio... my hometown)

Where did I state that I Hate America - can you point to a Single Post saying that?

I am CRITICAL to your current BUSH Goverment, or any other Goverment, who's only Goal in their Ruling is to Get as much Money as possible in the time they have, and basicly do nothing for the REAL World's Problems.

And I NEVER Said that I Liked my Goverment either.

They are just Lap Dogs of the EU and US and they are no Better then any other Corrupt Politicans in this World.
