Is it just me or does seeing 40 odd police cars at maroubra police satation or having check points and suburbs locked down cause for concern ?.

Is this slowly adjusting us to a police state ? Please have fun, just pretend there is not armed cops watching you have that fun !.

Premier Morris Iemma says the extra police are needed to ensure that order is retained.

"The police will keep the pressure on throughout the summer," Mr Iemma said

"This is going to be a new way of dealing with anti-social behaviour and these hoons."

Mr Iemma says he recognises that the public will be inconvenienced by some of the measures used by police and he is asking people for their cooperation.

So in Sydney case we dont have to worry about Al qaeda training camps rather the feared "hoons". Mark my words Sydney....This is the police state in its infancy !
