2005- Northern Hemispheres warmest year ever recorded

This year has been the world's second warmest on record (reliable temperature records started being kept in the 1860's). Also, the Northern Hemisphere has experienced its hottest weather since recordings started. Ocean temperatures in the Atlantic Ocean have also been the hottest on record. Researchers believe that this is some more evidence that human-induced global warming is very real. Dr. Viner, part of the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia, attests the upward trend of temperatures to human caused global warming. Viner says, "It's simple physics; more greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, emissions growing on a global basis, and consequently increasing temperatures." In Washington DC, the beliefs are different. Fred Singer from the Science and Environmental Policy Project believes these recent warm temperatures only prove the Northern Hemisphere is getting warmer. He does not conclude that human effects can be attributed to the warmer weather.



This is just another look at how global warming is occuring. Facts are conclusive that we are experiencing increasingly warmer weather, but what is it being caused by. Some believe it is our faults, others say it is just part of nature. Could the amount of hurricanes this year have caused the warm temperatures for the Northern Hemisphere? We must have seen one of the greatest storm years ever, but would this lead to an entire hemisphere warming, or was the hemisphere already warming which caused the storms? Just some thoughts.

So the warmest on record since the 1860's. What about the 900's? Waht about the other 99.999999% of the years beyond 1860's? This is silliness..........

This is rather pathetic that weather records are only dating back to the 1860's, and scientist say that it's the "Warmest year recorded in the Northern Hemisphere"

What this does show is that we are experiencing the warmest temperatures of our time. I guess we can only look at the now, and analyze that data recorded. It is unfortunate that we can not look back in time and possibly realize this is just normally occuring weather every few hundred years or so.

It is still intriguing that a steep inlcine in warm weather has started around 1985-2005.

I read today on ABC News that this year was Australias hottest on record ever.

I don't think it's silly at all. We have the information we have and that's what we need to look at. The idea that it 'might' just be a trend that has repeated itself before is a possibility, but to disregard the real data we do have as 'silliness' because of what 'might' be is irrespossible.

If we don't take a serious look at this data and act accordingly, we 'might' not have the opportunity to see the possible trend repeated because we disregarded what was right before our eyes.

It is silliness because there is nothing anyone can do to change anything. The inference is always that somehow man is responsible........BS. Solar super max started around 1985 in a supercycle. End of story......

And where is the proof that this supercycle will follow previous patterns?

I believe we can help global warming slowdown. Obviously we can not stop it, but there are measures governments around the world can take to see that warming does not increase more than normal.

I wonder if this reporting is based on the same bad information the Washington Post ran with. A university report really ripped the press a new one for the way they handled the information.
