Hello! I'm so glad you made this post! I've had the same thing happening to me for the past 7 or 8 years or so... maybe longer. I just hadn't
posted about it because even though I'm a paranormal investigator, I tend to stick to the scientific and UFO topics on here. Anyway...
When this happens to me, it is when I have taken a light nap and I'm just waking up from it and still have my eyes closed. VERY rarely, I'll do it
when I'm dozing off. At first, I thought I was just seeing random faces, until I moved into an old farm house in amish country. I'll tell about my
experiences and then I'll give my theory on what I think causes the phenomenon.
As I said before, I have been seeing the faces for a while, but didn't think a whole lot about it at first. I have an active mind anyway and just
figured that's what it was causing it. Then, I moved into that old farmhouse. Right off the bat, I started seeing an old man when I would have
these experiences. The very first time, I saw only his face with billows of smoke coming from behind him. He had grey hair and a long grey, bushy
beard. I thought it was odd. Then as time went by and I would continue to see his face when I was waking up, it would always be the same face, same
hair and beard, until one day, I was waking up from a nap (eyes still closed) and actually saw him standing in what was my back yard at the time. He
was wearing a black, heavy wool coat, buttoned up and a black brimmed hat. Behind him, there was a big barn and what seemed to be a wood shed to the
side. Now, when I lived there, the was another home behind me and no barn, but where the "wood shed" was, is where my garage was. I couldn't
understand why in the world I kept seeing this man. THEN, this is what convinced me there was something to it...
As I was waking up one day, I had one of the "visions" or whatever you want to call it, of the old man. He was wearing the same hat as in the
vision I had before. I don't like to call them visions, but I guess they kind of are, lol. Anyway, in this one, he was actually moving and working
and what really stood out to me was that he was wearing a bright green shirt. He was in the same setting as I had seen him in before, only this time,
he was working beside the wood shed. He was also wearing a black vest over the green shirt. I didn't think much of it at that time, but about a
week later, we were driving down the road and passed an amish buggy. The guy driving the buggy was wearing a bright green shirt and black vest
exactly like the one I had seen on the old guy in my vision. I told my husband (at the time, lol) something like "OMG, look at that guy's green
shirt!" Of course, he probably thought I was nuts, but the reason I reacted like that was because I remembered the "vision." He said, "yeah,
they wear those this time of year for some reason." So, that is what convinced me that I was probably seeing somebody who used to live there at my
place, because it had been amish land long ago. And most of us know that the Amish still dress now exactly the same way they did then.
AND, another thing... I mentioned that the first time I saw the man, I saw him in billows of smoke. I also found out the the first and second houses
that had been built there had burned down. So, did the man die in the fire? I don't know, but it was strange.
Later, when we moved to another house (one that is on land that has been owned by my family for years), the visions of the old man stopped completely.
Instead, I would see the face of a woman... just like in an old photograph. Her hair was parted in the middle and she was dressed like they would
have 100 or so years ago. I saw her twice. I didn't recognize her from any old family photographs, so I don't know if she was a relative or not.
I also saw a man wearing overalls, but I couldn't see his face. That was odd, but the majority of the men in my family who lived there years ago
Now, what I think this is, at least in my case, is a form of something called "place memories." Granted it doesn't fully fit the the definition of
what most people think place memories are, but I do think it's a form of it. You can google it and see what you find. I think it's almost like
seeing a ghost, but instead of seeing it in front of you, you see it in your mind's eye.
That's my theory and it may sound far fetched, but I think it makes sense, lol.
Have you noticed that you see the same people over and over again, or are they always different?
I have more stories I could tell about these faces and people I've seen, but I'll stop for now, because this post has already been long-winded
S&F for you!
