I've noticed that the Seti@home Discussion forum has little/no tags (I tagged a few threads). Just thought I'd let everyone know so maybe you could help tag a few.

Someone went into the last 1/2 pages and tagged everything as "Seti@Home". For example: www.abovetopsecret.com... This was about using a similar program for smallpox, and had nothing to do with Seti@Home.

For those who might feel inclined to add inappropriate tags or use the tags to comment on members, you will receive a 1000 point penalty for each tag needs to be removed. If we need to remove three or more of your tags, your account will be terminated. This also may apply to tags that are more opinion than fact if they cross the political line of unbiased tagging.

and who will be monitoring these infractions?

one of the things i liked about this forum is the fact you could voice your opinion,i guess censorship has finally got it's dirty little fingers everywhere lol.
and who is the police of the opinion over fact, there are ppl out there who only have experiences not backed up by documented fact(one of the reasons there are soo many different topics in this forum i'm thinking) if you are gonna terminate accounts for biast tagging why stop there, why not just terminate any account for biasd posts as well!!!
lol

The tags aren't supposed to be used for voicing opinions at all.
They are just there to help organize the content so a person can click on a tag name and find other threads with the same tag.

I know we are only at 7.8% of tagged threads but I am starting to find threads that have been tagged already and there isnt much I can add.

Is there a way to have a list posted that has all the threads needing tags on it?
Sort of a process of elimination, once it has a tag (or up to a certain # of tags), it comes off the list. That way, more of the untagged threads would be sought after.

Just thinking, but it might be helpful.

Okay, thanks S_O, I usually add tags to threads that are very similar to others so they link nicely to each other.

Find Threads That Need Tags!

www.abovetopsecret.com...
This link will show you 500 random threads that need tags.

This is a new feature on the main (work in progress) tags page at:
www.abovetopsecret.com...

So get back to tagging!

SkepticOverlord, a few [ie: less that 15] of the listed threads could not be accessed [ie: council forum, etc], but all-in-all, the rest of the above listed 500 random threads are now tagged.

It's a random selection of untagged threads each time you reload the page.

Hey, no problem, SO.
Not that I have anything else better to do with two hours plus.

Nonetheless, roughly 475+ threads have been tagged.

Someone else can catch my slack.

-- that is, it's random for each user... you'll get a different random 500 from anyone else.

-bump-

Reminder:

You can easily find untaggd threads...

And old threads are worth more points.

When we come across threads like this,
why not tag them with 'trash bin' so they can be found as a group and dealt with...band width, etc.?

Good idea.
I've encountered a couple of threads like that.

It looks like the system isn't perfected yet because I do get the odd thread that I can't tag because I don't have access.

Example from "500 Random Threads", www.abovetopsecret.com...

But even with the odd error that shows up, I find the new search feature much better for finding threads that need tags.

I also see we're getting close to 30,000 tags and almost 10% of all the threads being tagged.
We also have 402 members that have contributed tags.
www.abovetopsecret.com...
www.abovetopsecret.com...

It looks like the project is going well................

GO FORTH AND TAG.....

We've only got 9.3% of all threads tagged so far.
I've been tagging a lot of old ATSNN articles but still have a long way to go.

I've got almost 1,300 tags so far.
Only a few users ahead of me.

AceOfBase has added 1273 total tags

I'll see if I can get past 1,500 tomorrow.
