Does anyone know what the deal is? Its a video game from SONY, and they've made lots of fake webpages proporting to have uncovered the remains of gigantic monsters, monsters that actually end up featuring in their game? IOW they're hoaxing to build up press for a product they are selling?

It seems like its getting out of hand. Has anyone attempted to catalog the sites?

Basically, SONY are just getting some cheap publicity about a fabulous game.

To spot a Sony-hoax-site-

The webpage looks like its been done on freewebs or some other free web page maker.

The guy that found it usually rabbits on about how great he is.

The pics look so photoshopped I could literally explode.

As much as I hate to add to the confusion

paleoshilling.nl... (The Persian Giant)
divethedeepscuba.com.au... (The Sunken Giant)
arkadysimkin.pl... (The Ice Giant)
www.familysayre.net... (The Inca Giant)

And by all means-
www.giantology.typepad.com...

Nothing to see here. Press on.

yay for viral marketing.

on the other hand, it is somewhat misleading and gives people false hope that a real scientific discovery has been found.

It's Sony placing fake images on the net in order to drum up a vibe for a new game.

This is the games site: www.us.playstation.com...

the game is awsome but it's sad they have to do that. once people see the game no one will really care about a stupid publicity stunt
