Yeah the violence against non-locals at beaches around Australia is ridiculous. The only time I have been beaten up in my life is when i went surfing at the wrong beach and told some locals to *bleep* off when they said I couldn't surf there. Most just demand respect and will leave you alone if you don't do anything stupid but some are just idiots about the whole them being a local you being a tourist thing. This unfortuantly happens on many of the best beaches around the world, I believe in Hawaii non-locals are called "haole's" by territoral surfers.

I don't deny that 'local' skegs can be d**k-heads. When I lived at Coolangattta I was beaten up by some of the 'Coolie crew' for being non-local and a swampy to boot. A night-club I used to frequent there (The Patch) had an unwritten rule that segregated skegs to one side and punks, swamps, goths, and metal-heads to the other. Mind you, I got to know some of these guys as time went on and got on fine with them.

Millions do get along. I wouldn't worry about the few idiots who only want to fight and stir up trouble. A day doesn't go past when someone, somewhere isn't having crack at someone else. That's life..

I think it is really interesting that only last week a few ‘shock jocks’ were beating the hell out the story that a couple of life guards were attacked in Cronulla. They kept on and on and lone behold we end up with a riot.

In Lebanon people speak French, English and Arabic.
It was my understanding that French and English are more popular amongst the Lebanese Christians while Arabic is more popular amongst the Lebanese muslims.

Actually, Helium, in Indonesia they speak Bahasa, but that's beside the point.

Ace, in the Netherlands they can speak English and German as well as Dutch. In Scandinavia they can often read and speak the languages of their neighbouring countries as well as English.

I'm sure there are Maronite Christians in Lebanon who can speak Arabic as well as there are Druze and Arab Muslims who can speak English and French.

The fact that you are not an Aussie automatically disqualifies you from applauding the wankers who were wearing Aussie flags around their necks and drinking beer while working up the courage to take on the "Lebs".

When I was a kid my best mate was not only a Muslim but his parents were Lebanese. It was of no consequence to any of us. We didn't even know what it meant when his widowed mother married a man in the Melbourne synagogue. We were in that stage of ignorance that is bliss, skin colour and religion meant nothing to us.

There was nothing hapenning at Cronulla worthy of being applauded except for the police intervention. None of those involved were from Cronulla and none of them worked there.

On AM they quoted a Turk kebab shop owner whose shop is on Cronulla beach. He said that in six years in Cronulla he had received no racist taunts and he wished that the whole lot of them would bugger off back to where they lived and leave him and his beachside suburb in peace.

Infact there could of been colonization here as long as 65 thousand years ago but the commonly accepted timeline by conservatice archaeologists is 40/43 thousand years.

The only thing the various Aboriginal societies produced were their societies. (yes, yes, and a few hand prints on cave walls and rock paintings in Kakadu, etc.

The single biggest acheivement they had, and I'm not denigrating it at all (just the opposite), is that with an incredibly limited gene pool they survived without inbreeding for tens of thousands of years. Thanks wholly and solely to the incredibly complex rules of "skin" and "caste" they developed to prevent just such a catastrophe from occurring.

Oh, and they pretty much didn't rape the land they way we have.

I was referring to the 200 years of "white" colonisation and what we've acheived. What has our society acheived that is so incredibly superior to Lebanon?

Lebanon's history goes back thousands of years. Ours, that is the people on Cronulla Beach "defending" Australia, goes back 200 years. And then it begins with criminals.
