Unauthorized Ignores (Glitch?)

Topic started on 10-12-2005 @ 10:37 PM by theBLESSINGofVISION

I have just realized that one of my favorite members has been inadvertantly ignored on my account.

If it was me that accidentaly hit the ignore button, great, but I'm certain it didnt happen purposely.
Has there been any cases of "ignore" glitches?

Can someone please teach me how to "un" ignore someone...

Is there a way that I can check who I am currently ignoring?

Settings button at the top, under the ATS symbol takes you to your profile.

Ignored members are listed on the bottom left. Just above your buddy list.

Thanks MakeItSo...

Not on ignore list! When I go into threads started by this particular member that I'm talking about, I cannot read any of the person's individual posts...
Why can I still not view this member's posts?

Again, not on ignore list - but still unable to view member...

Yeah, must be your friend did a boo-boo and ended up on the GI list.

what does global ignore mean?

Is that similar to a suspension? (as opposed to being banned?)

It means no one but mods can see their posts. It can be a prelude to banning or just a stopgap measure to block a bad post until an appropriate mod can edit it, upon which time the GI would be removed, or something in between. If your friend is still on GI, he'll have to work out with mods what needs to be done to get it removed.

If a person is on "Global Ignore" it means he/she is not banned (yet anyway), the member can post but nobody can see the posts. Or at least no "mortal" can see his/her posts. He/She will become "invisible" to other members and visitors (non-members).

Banned = cannot post or log in to ats (no u2u is possible) - But old posts are still visible

Post banned = can log in to ats but cannot post - Old posts are still visible

GI (Global Ignore) = Can post (but I advice not to do it) - All posts (new as old) are invisible

Sometimes members can be both banned and GI = gone in every way, no traces except on those occasions where that member is quoted by someone else.

By the way...
What would be grounds for being on global ignore?

It seems a pretty unreasonable punishment for anything that I can think of.

What am I missing...

(ps. Not a friend... Just a guy that I remember had really interesting views and perspectives.)

GI would be used for some really offensive material that needed to be removed from the board ASAP, or for someone who was spamming the board incessantly and needed to be put out of commission. Something along those lines.
