Interesting topic.
Your part of the world is not the only place this weird stuff is going on. In the americas we are finding more and more what we call 'exotic'
animals running around. Seems pet ownership has now broached logic and decency even. Hearing stories of boa constrictors, posionous spiders, pet pigs,
rare birds, large cats, wolves and other assorted animals making the run from their former owners. Fun for all trying to catch them or running away.

This sounds like what you are speaking about...
Police and animal welfare chiefs said they had narrowed the 150 square mile search down to a wooded area near the village of Ballybogey,
outside Portrush, Co Antrim.
The big cat - thought to be either a puma or a panther - has been blamed for mauling several sheep after being set loose by a rogue owner who faces
prosecution once it is caught, police said.
Police marksmen are on standby to shoot the exotic animal. which has eluded capture for more than a month.

At one point in time--I think it was the 70's--it was popular to have a big cat as a pet. Later this was made illegal, and many people turned their
pets loose instead of turning them in to an agency that would release back into their natural habitat. They were afraid of getting into trouble.

I heard that it is a ancient cat called "dontria"

Well there is definitely a large black cat roaming Ulster County.
Beast captured on camera roaming Ulster countryside
Dublin doctor snaps photographic evidence of big cat on the loose
FORGET the beasts of Ballybogey currently at large in north Antrim, because as these exclusive pictures show, it seems yet another big cat is
roaming Ulster's countryside.
The picture - which clearly shows a large black cat roaming in a field - was taken by a Dublin-based doctor who spotted the animal close to Slieve
Bearnaigh in the Mourne Mountains.

has any one heard of the mysterious beast of bodmin this is another big cat that has been terrorising local farms and apparently clawed at a young
girls arm when she mistook it for a big pussy cat and tried to stroke it

There were also reports of a large puma-like creature in the hills where I live, just outside Glasgow in the 1980's. Since then, these stories have
cropped up several times in the local media
