I swear...I gain more gray hair every day the longer I drive. People have lost respect on the road! It is utterly insane how people carelessly swerve and careen about in 2 ton machines. Some examples:

Does ANYONE use their turn signals anymore? Hey buddy- your $3,000 stereo system was an OPTION! Turn signals are standard! USE THEM!

Speaking of stereos...today I saw a couple of people listening to their bass-booming hip-hop at an unspeakable volume (it was about 15* outside-my windows were closed, and I heard it like my radio was cranked), and had NO IDEA that an ambulance was trying to get around them. Idiots.

May I remind people that red lights are there for a reason. One cannot simply run a red light whenever they feel they can. I have seen this happen at a busy intersection during school letting out. Unbelievable.

And while we are talking about school...there is a 15MPH speed limit for a REASON. The kids may not respect you when they cross in the middle of an intersection, without looking, at a snail's pace, but it does not give you the right to careen through at 45MPH.

Oh, and sort of off the subject- for those who "tweak" their $12,000 imports to look like $45,000 pieces of crap...I laugh at you every day. It's a Honda ACCORD, not a Jag.

I will stop here...for now.

I agree, totally. There's a crossroad junction outside the Junior school here and some poor child got run over a year or so ago by some f'ing idiot. Also, a month ago, there was a huge accident on the by-pass. Turns out some people I knew (two brothers) decided to get a lift with a f'ing lunatic, who then travelled over 100mph and crashed into an on-coming car. The two brothers and the lunatic lost their lives.

Can I just ask, why the hell are cars designed to go over 100mph when the highest LEGAL speed you can travel at is much less than that?!

Back in 1997, I was plowed into by a 84 year old woman, because she didn't see the stop sign. I was driving along minding My own business, & she couldn't see the stop sign.

I think anyone past the age of 65 should be manditorily made to take the driving test again, eye test, & reflex test, & if they fail, then they get to use to Bus, or some other Public Transport.

Problem is, this is Florida, & all the old people from up North come here to escape the driving rules from their home state, most of them from New York.

Go back I say, back to whence you came....

The only reason I missed having a major accident a few years ago, is because as I was leaving, I turned around to say bye to a coworker. That made me a few seconds later, which put me behind another car that turned right. I went left, and right before I got to where I WOULD have been if I hadn't turned around, a little old lady blew through the red light, at least 10 miles over the speed limit, and never touched her brakes.

Age may have something to do with it. I am 30, and grew up in a generation where I like to think we have a clue as to what we are doing. The generation behind me however...well....

For instance-
Today in my neck of the woods we had a "snowstorm" (oooooooh...5"). I am amazed, shocked and appaled at the "young'uns" who do NOT understand the concept of 2nd gear...on an automatic car. That's right, folks, 2nd gear in your automatic car CAN get you up those snow covered hills...
Just don't stomp on the gas!
I watched people slide through intersections (including public transportation bus drivers!), spin their tires for two minutes trying to go at a green light, fishtailing up a hill... *sigh*

What is even worse than the people who can't drive are some who get upset at the wrong people. I got close to getting hit by someone who didn't turn on the turn signal and they started easing into the turn lane I was in. Just one problem, I was already there or about 1 or 2 feet behind them but already in the turn lane.

Then they must have spotted me and quickly got back in their own lane. I turned and then I thought oh no road rage, this guy is chasing me down. I sped up because I didn't know what he intended to do and then suddenly saw blue lights. At least two police came out and said put your hands on the steering wheel like I was a criminal. They shined flashlights in my car and asked if I had been drinking because they claimed I was driving erratic.

I was still slightly shaken that someone came close to clipping my car and then this. I hadn't had a single drink in over a week. Then the officer said he smelled alchohol in my car. I said he was welcome to smell all he wanted but there wasn't any. After more questioning and checking my license etc. they finally let me go. After they had left I started remembering and believe it was the unmarked cop car that didn't signal and almost hit me.

I'm just glad I didn't say it was him because then he probably would have arrested me for something and it would have been two officers word against my word. I was thinking if I had been a police officer and had a camera in my car I could have convicted them for changing lanes without signaling and driving carelessly.

Now my memory is getting fuzzy again and I'm wondering if it was the unmarked police car or just someone else who didn't signal and almost clipped me that gave me all the trouble. Well really it was the police who gave me all the hassle. I learned my lesson though. I will try to be on the lookout for people who don't signal and want to turn in front of me as well as others who think they own the road. I'm just glad I was proven innocent since in this country you are now guilty until proven innocent. I'm also relieved I didn't see two guys with shotguns ready to get me because they thought I cut them off when they never signalled to get in the turn lane in front of me. That was too much excitement for me.

People can drive they just chose not to for whatever reason ...
Whatever emote I can to describe various states drivers drive in. Toronto has bad drivers. The 401 Expressway is known as the Corridor of Death to some. Scares the crap out of me whenever I'm on it and I don't drive so it's even worse as I cannot control aah.

We have two local highways like that. It is called Route 22 (beware the 7th street through Airport Road exits!) and the other is called the Schuylkill Expressway. Both are notorious death traps here. Doing 55MPH is considered walking.

Oh look; it's snowing today. I wish I had a police scanner. The ER's are going to be busy tonight.

you have hit a soft spot with me on this one....as i do believe i have found one of the king of the a-hole states for bad drivers......Michigan.

I moved to michigan from california...and most people think california drivers are bad...check this out.

2 weeks after i got here....2 WEEKS!--I was run off the road, literally, twice, for not going fast enough for the dumb F**ks behind me. I was doing 80 in a 70, passin the OBVIOUSLY slower cars in the right lane doing 70 and below...

the first time in this case was when i was passing a bunch of vehicles in the right lane... a bus, and two semi's were in the right lane, with about 4 cars in front of me in the left. we were going 80-85 (i'm used to cali's 75mph spd lmt.)--when some guy in a pickup came up on my butt like i was standing still, after flashing his lights twice, and honking his horn, to which i had no where to go, or could go no faster, he cut off the semi to my right and squeezed in between him and the bus, after coming up right beside me, i looked over at him to see the jerk*ff that was driving like a moron, and he simply smiled, and pushed me off the road, and took my place on the road...Now, if i was driving my 74 chevy dually, i would have taken him out and let him hit me, but i was driving my 30k showcar to a carshow about an hour away.....so i obviously didn't want to crash, and he knew it. I was soo mad

after which he just sped off at over 100 and EXITED 3 MILES UP THE ROAD!!
:bnghd:

The second time was at a main intersection in grand rapids (where i live in mi.) 4 mexicans in a ford escort crossed 3 lanes and into the turn lane right in front of where i was turning into the left turn lane. to which they immediately stomped on the brakes to avoid hitting the car that was only 2 car lengths in front of me. NO TURN SIGNALS...big suprise. I honked at them, and then they proceeded to follow me into the parking lot and all four of them jumped out and tried to pull some "tough guy gang banter" wanting to jump ME for driving crazy....well, the great part to this story is that the guy in front of me also pulled into the parking lot (coincidently) and got out of the truck...apparently, this guy was a body builder or a railroad builder or something...because it looked like he could bench press my honda. needless to say, they got in their car and left...

overall, if i have any word of warning, NEVER, EVER go to chicago in a car...take the bus or train and hope for the best. they are in the process of erecting a highway/freeway camera speedtrap system. I had to go there on buisness a few months ago, and never want to go again. there were people doing over 90 in a 45mph construction zone:shk:

all the while, there were people workin on the shoulder...illinois plans on implementing a $1,000 fine and i think impounding your car on the second offense, as well as taking your liscense for a year. i'd say they are gonna clean up....and hopefully use it to finish the god forsaken road construction that has taken years to get half way done...but that's another post..

ahhhh....i feel so much better...later!

Yeah, ok so it snowed. And now, all of the sudden, people have completely lost their minds.

Living where I do means waiting 12-24 hours before the beloved City plows make their way down our street. i know, many others will have this similar gripe, but I don't get it. We are right next to a school, but the City focuses on (obviously ) the emergency snow routes first, and then the "minor" side streets. I would love to get a copy of their itinerary. Who decides when my particular street gets plowed? What of there were an emergency where an ambulance needed to get through? I've seen it happen before.

Oh, and these people who convieniently forget that there is a law about placing household objects in cleared out parking spaces grate on my every nerve. I worked hard to get my parking spot cleared out too, but if somene takes it, oh well. This is America for a reason. I pay no fee to park on the street, therefore, I am NOT entitled to a spot...even if I have cleaned it.

And please, either drive 5 miles per hour like some Yeti is going to come out and eat you, or have no fear behind that "solid" SUV's four wheel drive and blaze by me at 40 miles per hour.

There is a law, too, that states that you may not throw your shovelled snow from your sidewalk/driveway/parked car back into the street. If you do it before the plow goes by, I have no probem with it. But once it goes by, that's it! He isn't coming by for a second sweep just because your car is now cleared off.

There's also a reason for the city statute that says "All residential properties must have all ice and snow removed 4 hours after the precipitation has ceased, or by the next day, should it hapen overnight." Okay, that isn't an exact quote, but you get the picture. The house on the corner (by the school) NEVER shovels their walk. 9 times out of 10 someone else does it, or the path is cleared simply by use.

Argh.

Grr.

Okay, I'm good now.

Old people are the BANE of the road.

God I hope I never get old!

Did you hear about the lady who rammed into the DMV (unbeknownst to the employees who worked inside), got her license renewed, and drove off.

I saw the most frightening thing EVER one day driving around. A little old lady, driving at 45 on the freeway, talking on a cell phone.

One of the worst places to drive has to be Jasper, IN. The driving school around here has to be run by stevie wonder and the test has to be written in Crayon. Some of the offenses that seem to happen on a minutely basis include:

turning right in front of someone with about 2 feet to spare and driving at half the speed of crap for 5 blocks and then turning right at the speed that most electric wheel chairs at the supermarket go when their backing up

taking 5 minutes to get 3 cars through an intersection. going straight. how long does it take to move your foot 3 inches and apply increasing pressure to the gas pedal. Seriously if I'm at the front of a line I'll be 2 blocks ahead of the people behind me and my speedometer will barely be above the speed limit.

turning left in front of a semi. even worse is the retards that turn right in front of a semi that's going the speed limit and acting like their accelerator has spikes on it.

riding their brakes going downhill

Lunchtime is the worst around here. If you know exactly where you want to go and know a backway take it because the main roads are gonna be backed up for miles. And all the lights in a row are gonna be green of course.

now for my personal favorite-The Indianapolis Interstate Idiots

These are the people that try to get on going 3 miles an hour while people are trying to drive at or above the speed limit and get off on their respective exits. Seriously there are 10 exits and entrance ramps within a 5 mile stretch on I-465. And god don't let it rain oh shut the interstate down. It doesn't even have to be a hurricane level torrential downpour it can be a slight sprinkle that lasts as long as a taco fart and you'll have 10 accidents before you know it. Then there are the people that drive 30 miles an hour in the fast lane no one in the right lane for miles and miles.

Other idiots in Indianapolis

1. Middle aged bitch going 35 miles an hour in a 45 mile per hour zone eating an Ice Cream Cone

2. I was sitting at a red light and saw a person coming down the road brushing their teeth (If I'm lying I'm crying I haven't shed a tear).

And the best (or worst depending on how you look at it)-Kentucky Drivers

Kentucky drivers have about as much common sense as they do teeth. It snowed like maybe 2 inches and in one county in kentucky they had to declare a state of emergency because there were 50 accidents in less than an hour. Then there's their wonderful interstate system that has 5 entry and exit ramps within 10 feet of each other. If you want to get from I64 onto I-65 S you have to sell your soul because even with your turn signal on and being halfway into their lane the missed abortion attempts on I-65 don't give you a break and just barrel past you like you're not even there.

one last thought the next SUV that barrels past me going 90 miles an hour that I pass less than two miles down the road while I'm doing the speed limit is getting disemboweled with a wooden cooking spoon.

Coz its cool?

i can take my Cobra 2 germany and do 160 mph on their autobahn's or the Nuremburg ring open race circuit!

Fast cars dont kill people, the person in them does.
