Jesus Was Not Black

30+ years in the desert. At the very least he would have been a very tan variant.

I really dont think we will nowhere in the near future get over the race issus now it seams its in biblical now, only until we reach the time on earth that we are all one race will this be setteled.until then im sorry to say that the black man will seem to trail the white man in this social stigmata. But i believe in the stories told in the bible it really matters not weather he was black or white, but to somepeople that feel they are dealt a lesser hand in life and are lookin to feel there sence of this, will always have to bring these kind of question up.The bible is a book or a lesson of life.In that it tells us how to live to be good people. For what I know of the book I have not seen the comparison between black and white people. But like I said this is still an issue for some people and will be for sometime.

wow elliott...that was profound and simply not about what this thread was about.....did you read the thread or just the last page or any page for that matter.....once again i was stating that jesus was hebrew because of where he came from and who he was born to.... it was not a white black issue..where did you get that from????

that there is some straight up racism.

the title of this thread may appear to be slightly bigoted, though i get the whole point of jesus looking less like this:

or this

and more like this:

the point, jesus wasn't white, jesus wasn't black, jesus was a dark skinned semitic man.

Jesus looked like an arab male.

arab jesus is more likely than black jesus which is a hell of a lot more likely than white jesus. but arab jesus is by far the most likely.

I agree, A Nazorean Rabbi from the Middle East most likely resembled Jamie Farr more than Chris Rock or Woody Allen, but of course, looks are not what matters here. The message of acceptance, love, giving, and peace is the thing. If this Yehoshua Bar Joseph really did live, he'd care not what anyone's looks were, only what was in their hearts. In my opinion.

He was black. This is proven by the fact that he is the son of God, and everyone knows God is black. They did make the 12 tribes white however so you are correct there.

God had a sense of humor after all.

In the end...my proof is just as solid as yours.

HAHAHAHAHAAA! godd is black! that realli made me life. Adam and eve were white remeber? they came from the garden of eden (somewhere in the middle east which is WHITE!!!) and god created adam and eve just like him so he must have been white. Only the places where it is very hot is where there are darker colored people, probably for protection from the sun. So in the begininng they werent born with that shade because it must have evolved when peple moved to hotter climates with a stronger sun.

Let me first say I'm a white guy and second that I disagree.

When it comes to religion you can portray a religous story anyway you want. If you want jesus to be white your going to portray him as such, if you want him to be black your gonna dipict him black.

And the middle east isn't white at all. Its right next to the east Africa which is pretty dark.

But above all of this I must point out that this thread has been already discussed to death in this thread from 2004 and others.

They are "WHITE!!!" in the Middle-East?

Perhaps the likeness that we share with God is spiritual and not something as vain as skin color and straight teeth. Of course this could just be my resentment towards the idea that God is white...surely that would make God a proponent of Commercialism

God is all correct? So that makes God black. Black is the combination of all colors, white is the lack thereof.

Jesus black? I never read any text to endorse that statement. Jesus's heritage would resemeble middle-eastern descent.

First of all, I am not a Christian and I have a tinge of the 'red' race in me, but I feel I must say something because I think this thread is getting close to racism.

The debate on the colour of the skin on the Creator/God is useless because no-one knows. All posts in this thread, which paint the skin of Deity, are only using the colour they would wish it to be for selfish reasons.

The man, Jesus Christ, was a host for this Creator/God. Jesus was born from a normal woman, just like you and I, and if the Creator/God had not been inside of him, his colour would have mattered to no-one.

If the God were to enter into the body of a black baby, would the races who were not of the baby's colour then deny that baby's Spirit?

Does anyone really ignore prophets because of their colour? That would truly be racist and probably not a very wise choice.

One question for those who hold forth the notion that Jesus was not black...do you think Jesus existed only for white people? And, if not, why do you argue over His colour?

Eden is generally accepted as being in Iraq, and I'd like to see where it says that they were white... in the 3 versions of the Bible I've read, I don't recall reading that. Please show me that verse, I'd be grateful to you for it. It is not true that hot climate = darker skin, the Arctic Inuit are quite dark toned, and their home is the coldest on earth, and South Africa is no warmer than much of Europe, yet the people are totally different in skin tone. And in America and Asia the climate varies alot, yet the people are consistent in their skin tone throughout. Australia and New Zealand also vary, and the southern parts are no warmer than where I live, in Canada. Yet the people are no different than those in the north, which is tropical.
I would not be as surprised to learn that Jesus was black as much as if he was white. The Revelations verse that says his hair is 'woolly' sounds like an afro, which feels just like wool.
The derisive tone, and self-assured wording which leaves no room for the chance that you could be wrong indicate to me a strong ethnic bias. Black, Red, Yellow, or White, whichever tone his skin was would not change my admiration and gratitude one bit. The message ascribed to him is what I see as primary, and has taught me a lot.

actually i think if you read the bible beginning to end youll see god started out talking to the hebrews and jesus was born through a hebrew bloodline ..making him hebrew.....hebrews are not white nor black nor asian nor alien...they are hebrew cousin to the arabs ......
this thread was not inteaded to be for racism as it was an answer (you would see from some of my previous post ..if you actually read more than the last page) to another post ........that post was citing jesus and the 12 tribes from africa which is not the truth.....
now im white (extremely white irish/german) and im arguing that jesus was hebrew...im not hebrew therefore i do not see this as racist statement or see it as me trying to make jesus my own personal god..... i see it as setting matter straight........
now maybe i choose the wrong wording on my topic ..it should be "JESUS WAS NOT AFRICAN"......

black, african, or a brother, the terminology is of little import. The reason that someone would state he was not black is what I am unsure of. He was very likely not black, and you are correct in your claim. But, I can't honestly say I 'know' you are right, cuz I wasn't there, and nothing I have seen definitively says so. If you are not right, as unlikely as that may be, and he was African...... what would you think of that? I'd like to know.
I am Scottish/Irish but I don't give a hoot what Jesus looked like. Why is the post not titled Jesus Was Not White?

i used to come on this sight and look around ..did this for awhile....i came across a thread where the author was stating that god , jesus, and the 12 tribes came out of africa and that they were all black......now i love to read books on different religions and faiths ....anyone who has read the bible atleast once can see the flaw in jesus being anything other than hebrew.....thats when i decided to join up ..so that i could speak on this matter..... being stupid and a newbie i accidentally made it into a new thread.......now it has grown into this insane debate.....im glad that i did make the mistake though as it has made for some interesting banter.......

now if your going to lump jesus and god together then you must use the judaic (any of the three...jewish, muslim, or christian) religion as your reference as they are your best record of jesus.....

if you read the bible you will see that jesus and the 12 tribes come from a long line of hebrews that came out of the land of caanan (modern day israel/palistine) ...............

god however is not a material thing and does not hold a color........
i do not subscribe to the judaic faith as i lean toward the vedic teachings for spiritual guidance...........so therefor realy the whole jesus thing is inmaterial to me...i just hate when people slander facts......like i said you can read the bible and see that jesus was hebrew.......
nothing racist ..nothing trying to make jesus my own...just trying to do justice to the facts...

i've read 3 bibles, but i also know that Abraham, Joseph, and Moses lived in Africa, and that there are African Jews. What if he was black? It is unlikely in my view, but how can one 'know'?

they resisided (sp) in caanan which is not anywhere near africa...
when the 12 tribes were exiled from egypt they travelled through africa to avoid running into the philistines.....this was along journey and im shure that the jews encounterd manyafrican tribes along the way....im shure many of them inter married among them...im shure many of the travelers got tired of following moses and set up camp in different areas...this would explain why there would be jews in africa...

if he was black it would make no difference to me , but if i was shown this evidence i would be the first to post an apologie on this thread along with making a new one called "jesus was actually black...who knew?"....

Descendents of Solomon in Ethiopia are another example. I don't think you would need to apologize, though, were Jesus found to have been black. If you were opposed to the proposition cuz you didn't want him to be black, then that would be different, but I don't think you are.
