DISREGARD THE ABOVE STATEMENT

Elab, please provide examples and links showing what terrorist cells the Japanese have at their disposal. I have certainly never heard of any.

Asymmetric tactics are fine as long as they are realistic.

SPY STORY

Takeo Yoshikawa was a 27-year-old graduate of Japan's naval academy who, in the closing months of 1941, was dispatched to Oahu to spy on the Pacific Fleet. He was given the cover name of Tadashi Morimura, and assigned to the Japanese consulate in Honolulu. This immediately aroused the suspicions of Western intelligence agencies, who could find no Morimura in the diplomatic registries. Now, the Americans, you remember, had cracked the Japanese code, and were reading intercepted diplomatic and military messages: Morimura was tracked all the way to Honolulu and met on his arrival by at least one undercover agent. Documents uncovered by Stinnett through the Freedom of Information Act reveal that every move made by Morimura in Hawaii was observed, and his frequent and detailed reports to his superiors in Tokyo were known not only to the Navy, but were sent to Washington by priority dispatch.
HOOVER HUSHED

It was clear from the content of the spy messages that the Japanese were scouting out Pearl Harbor as a target. Yet when word got out about the consul's extracurricular activities, the US government denied it in public, and privately tried to quash the whole matter by handing the investigation over to the Navy. Not only local authorities but also the FBI was cut out of the loop, and J. Edgar Hoover was furious: he pressured FDR to arrest or deport the spies, but Assistant Secretary of State Adolf Berle made the argument that to expel them would compromise America's most closely guarded secret: that the Japanese code had been broken. The whole Morimura affair was hushed up, and the investigation walled off: the Japanese spy was allowed to proceed to phase two of his mission.

Elab, granted there are spies on both sides and in any conflict within the region I am sure the kenpeitai would be sticking their beaks in as well.

For the purpose of keeping this scenario simple I would prefer to keep things to conventional forces and any possible asymmetric use of said forces.

However, if your spies find out for sure what location your target is in and you U2U me, I will check with your target and see where they are located. If they are in the same vicinity, who knows? Something unfortunate may happen.......

I've been lurking on this thread for some time and I must say its quite interesting!

Although as of now its taking a very "comical" political twist, IMHO all "actual" spy activities cannot be talked about in international political/military circles as it defeats the very purpose of the covertness involved. Infact only when the op is executed should everyone know about it, and that cannot be done in the context of this thread, so why not keep off this espiongae bit?
The political action with respect to the western ppl being held in china is good IMO, and the military action is quite impressive.
Why not open some other fronts?
Where are the taiwanese guys? I would've glady taken up the job but sadly no time! :bnghd:

Yeah, I'm with him. Espionage would take this to a level that we couldn't cope with.

I started posting a huge ruleset idea yesterday and it's been completely overlooked. From what I've gathered, the game is on hold until a ruleset is completed?

I'll work more on the ruleset if people wish to actually discuss a ruleset. Until then, I'm going to u2u a judge and add myself to the roster of countries. Once the game goes live, I'll begin my work.

But until then, I'll stop by from time to time and check and see if you guys actually discuss a ruleset and/or ideas.

Not overlooked at all, your hard work was very much appreciated and a large chunk of your suggestions will go towards determining how we will do this.

My main concern at the minute is having everybody calmed down and positioned, parameters for battle set and then we can get into the nitty gritty of actual combat.

Stay Tuned.

I hope you are ready to tell me your virtual position by U2U........

A decapitation strike is always a possibility, never mind the horrible things they were telling me via U2U that they are going to do to you.....ohhhh.........

All commaders note, you exist in a virtual world and you may find yourself, heh, retired early if certain activities I am hearing about in the background here follow through...

You may dread the "Tell me your position" U2u from one of the judges.....

muwahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!

Thank you to all you have submitted positions.

We have two different points of conflict coming up soon.

There will be two Naval conflicts coming up soon, so please decide the layout of your Battle Groups, i.e. what ships are positioned where, carrier in the middle, other ships outside, North, South facing, all this info.

North Korea, Japan and Taiwan, I need your asset locations.

China, I need your coastal defence plans. I also need the location of your AA and Aircraft assets, as they will come into play in one of the conflicts.

All players, if you have subs in the Japan Sea or the Taiwan Straits your crews should be on high alert and I require a seperate location map for these areas.

I also require the virtual location geographically of ALL commanders and their command staff.

Chinese Commanders

This game requires your information most of all to continue. We are nearly there!

Stay Tuned!!!

The dragon roars .

[ diplomatic initiative ] : the alliance of steel

In response to the illegal actions of the USA and the threats from japan . top level talks have been convened in response to the PRC proposal of “ the alliance of steel “

An agreement designed to deter pre emptive and un provoked attacks , In short if one is attacked – all others will respond as if that attack was against them .

The important caveat is that this ONLY applies if a signitory is victim of first strike .

This treaty awaits the signatures of :

Watch the rocks [ Russian president ]

Joshgator54 [ north Korean president ]

The PRC has signed on the authority of ignorant ape [ acting as CIC PLA-N ]

[ combined ops strategy – naval ]

In the face of American threats of piracy , In order to keep LEGITIMATE traffic to the LEGAL government of NK flowing unimpeded , The PRC proposes 2 ` protected sea lanes ` which will funnel all traffic through allied and NK territorial waters .

` northern protected sea lane ` servicing the port of ` chongjin`

` southern protected sea lane ` servicing the port of ` nampo `

all shipping bound for NK will be marshalled in PRC and russian waters and proceed under escort to thier destination

all transits will remain in territoirial waters - and PRC will treat any attempt to interfere with this traffic as an attack on PRC .

if advised by PRC legal expets - vessels in transit will be flagged up as PRC merchantile fleet

********* WARNING ********** due to comms difficulties – this strategy will have to be ratified by :

We are all going to die [ Russian commander in chief ]

Joshgator54 [ north Korean leader ]

Before full implementation can be undertaken

[ combined ops strategy – airforce ]

In order to protect air traffic to NK , air traffic is invided to file flight plans specifying a PRC destination . once in PRC airspace – ad-hoc authorization to fly on to NK destinations will be granted

PRC takes no responsibility for the contents of these flights - If nessesary , air traffic will make “ touch and go “ landing at Chinese airstrips .

China intends to “obey “ the letter , not the spirit of international laws and treaties to extend its protection to NK air and sea traffic .

PRC will not allow the USA to bully our brothers in the socialist workers paradise of NK

Ps : the PRC still awaits the response from the US detailing the legal basis for their actions

[ UN sanctions ]

The PRC ambassador to the UN is filing motions before the general assembly and the security council , demanding action be taken against japan .

Citing :

Violations of the japanese constitution .

ALLEDGED Vilotations of the nuclear NPT agreements .

PS : the PRC repeats its demands for a FULL and INDEPENDENT [ sic] audit of all japans atomic programs .

Violations of the charter of the Japanese SELF defence forces .
