The Untied States finds the . . .

The PLA expresses concerns about this turn of events, but will do everything necessary to protect North Korea in the advent of a foreign attack on the nation.

Major news coming out of the United States: The Secretary of Defense fires his personal secretary for incorrect grammar.

Because of NKs inability to provide a 24 hour notice of strategic missle tests coupled with highly suspicious bombings in it's capitol, South Korea has no choice but to inquire into the US strategic missle defense systems, as well as offensive abilities.

South Korea has increased it's defence budget from $16.8 billion to nearly $20 billion for FY2006. This marks an increase of almost 25%.

Foremost on it's wishlist are some advanced US systems, such as the AN/VLQ Shortstop, M-6 Linebacker, MTHEL laser system, F-35 JSFs, Rivet JOINT, and JOINT STARS. Full involvement with the United States Strategic Missle Defense System is requested, and funding as well as mutual development has been offered.

South Korea also asks for extreme reinforcement of it's air defence systems in the mean time, as it lack adequate air defences of it's own.

The US is preparing more PAC-III, I-Hawk, Avenger, and Bradley ADS systems to Korea and Japan. Two J-8 Joint Stars aircraft will be deploying from Georgia to Okinawa, and an additional U-2 surveillance aircraft will deploy from California.

Ye sorry. The People's Republic of China's Head of Military Commission was washing dishes.

The PLA strongly protests these deployments, especially of the RIVET JOINT, JOINT STARS and U-2 surveillance aircraft. The US is aiding South Korea to get into an offensive posture to attack North Korea. The deployments are unnecessary. The PLA will also protest if the US Strategic Missile Defense System is given to SK.

As such, the People's Liberation Army is providing North Korea with arms, to be stationed along the DMZ. Weapons details later.

[edit] Another fired secretary.

The PLA is providing SOUTH Korea with arms? Thanks!

None of the systems the PRC objects to are offensive systems. All are unarmed, and are being deployed in support of Cope Thunder 06 exercises. The E-8s, RC-135s, and U-2s are all simple obersavtion platforms, and carry no weapons.

The systems that the US is deploying to SK for this "Cope Thunder 06" excersie can all be used in an offensive nature. Even U-2 aircraft, with their advanced satillite communications links, can pinpoint a tank and precisely guide a strike aircraft or artillery barrage onto target.

*$^$!!! I mentioned I was washing dishes, right? There is now water all over the floor. Not a happy person right now. Must learn how to do two things at once . . . leave me alone for a half hour

The U-2 has no offensive capability, even to pinpoint tanks in real time. However, US and SK forces need to know how to use these systems to coordinate their forces. The US has noted China's protest, however the units will still be deployed, for Command and Control exercises in Cope Thunder.

South Korea blasts Chinese protest

South Korea has issued a statement regarding Chinese concerns around US recon aircraft.

"These aircraft [U-2, Joint STARS, RIVET JOINT] are passive and recon related with no weapons systems, and are needed to conduct Cope Thunder exercises, which were announced well ahead of time. China may observe these exercises as is customary in military circles.

Further more, South Korea must express it's outrage at China for it's hipocricy. Supporting North Korean unnanounced missle tests accomplishes nothing but hightened tensions. In addition, China continues with it's double speak by simultaneously attacking plans to use pasive sensory aircraft in well notified practice operations while also supplying North Korea with arms to station along the DMZ.

South Korea has also called on China to enter talks with South Korea to prevent nuclear proliferation in regards to North Korea, with not even the curtesy of a reply. This is understandably leads South Korea to wish to obtain ABM defence systems, as North Korea refuses to announce missle tests while also holding nuclear superiority over the South."

In related news, rumors abound that the explosive material used in one of the car bombs in South Korea has been discovered, though details are not available at this time.

The US also announces the deployment of the USS Lake Eerie (CG-70). Lake Eerie is capable of defending against Theater Ballistic Missiles and has sucessfully shot down 6 in testing.

right, all cleaned up.*wipes hands*

The PRC understands SK worries over the North Korean missile and nuclear programs, so China will also lobby for NK to forewarn about it's test missile launches.

Joint STARS, RIVET JOINT and the U-2, especially the U-2, may not carry weapons, but they are still very effective forward observation platforms. They can loiter above a target for hours on end, transmit real-time images from just about the entire electromagnetic spectrum, can intercept electronic communications, and can pinpoint targets to the second, guide weapons carrying platforms onto target, and can do all this while suppressing enemy air defences with electronic countermeasures.
Not to be underestimated.

South Korea announces that it will recall an undisclosed amount of it's SWC from bases in Poland and Ireland to participate in Cope Thunder. They will be redeployed to UNTC after Cope Thunder and a subsequent time of leave of 2 weeks.

An undisclosed officer in Special Warfare Command said he looks forward to working with the elite units of the Brittish and American SOFs during Cope Thunder, and predicts that his own soldiers will gain the respect of their more famed allies.

The PLA has now announced plans to conduct a massive joint excercise with the North Korean armed forces, called Operation 杀害.
杀害 will involve the PLA, PLA-AF, PLA-N and NKA-AF, NKA-N and NKA, as well as special forces from both sides. Operation will commence asap.

South Korea asks for an agreement that they commence at a different point in time to Cope Thunder, as two large exercises operating at the same time is unreasonably dangerous for both sides.

South Korea also inquires as to wheather it and it's allies will be allowed to observe these exercises.

As per normal, the Allied forces will be permitted to observe the operation, but only from south of the DMZ. Any aircraft infringing North korean airspace will immeadaerly be escorted off. Operation 杀害 will commence at 4:33 Greenwich Mean Time, 5th December, (GMT), 2005.

NK accepts the offer from the PLA and thanks them for their support.

In response to the request from China, NK agrees to provide a warning before any test missile launches in the future.

NK offers condolences and support to SK and Japan in discovering who committed the terrorist attacks on their nations.

pardon me for being out of character here, but frankly it takes a bit longer then 1 day to put together a "massive" exercise.

I understand we are on excelerated time and what not, but it would take all nations weeks (at the least) to prepare such an exercise. I mean, we have had ours planned since page 12, so I don't see how there is any logical way that China and North Korea - with inferior logistical systems - could get a massive wargames exercise off before a SK/US/UK one that was planned much farther in advance.

I'd say we should have some judges (again, where are you?) make the call on this one...

Yeah, sorry about that. I was kinda iffy about what date/time to use. It's all a bit confusing, isn't it? Okay, since we've had a few problems with transportation, Operation 杀害 will start at 5:00 GMT +10 hours. (4 days real time, about)

If no judges show themselves, we are going to have to sit down and work out how things are going to go. MSN Messenger, anyone? Fast and easy.

First Chinese 747 has cleared Japanese airspace and is heading for China, escorted by Su-30's. Other two 747's are crossing into Japanese airspace, with their escorts orbiting 10 miles into international airspace.

No worries

It really is hard to do anything but diplomacy without a working "system" we can use to base all of our actions on. I say that if we don't hear from a judge by the 5th, we just come up with our own system.

I don't have MSN Messenger. If we need to come up with our own rules, I will make an account.

OOC - I expect we will see some judges tomorrow, if not, then I am with you guys. FYI I tend to be on ATS in the evenings, got to put in the 9-5.
