2,000-Year-Old Seed Sprouts

Interesting, you would think the seeds would have been dehydrated to a point of a rock after 2K, but the scientist in the article says the seeds sat in his desk drawer for a year before planting.

Hmmmm maybe somethings should be left alone!

Sapling Is Thriving

A sapling germinated earlier this year from a 2,000-year-old date palm seed is thriving, according to Israeli researchers who are cultivating the historic plant.

"It's 80 centimeters [3 feet] high with nine leaves, and it looks great," said Sarah Sallon, director of the Hadassah Medical Organization's Louis L. Borick Natural Medicine Research Center (NMRC) in Jerusalem.

In a nationalgeographic artical there was a story about this Exint valcanio
and the lake it had `ten thousands years agio.
people from a near by village were going to this dry lake and collecting seeds to eat . These seeds were there for 10,000 years .
anyway a scientest decided to see if he could get them to grow .
And they did grow after 10,000 years .It turns out they were a type of water lilly that was extinct .

This is very cool actually, a peice of history right there.

It's amazing when you think that this thing should have been long gone, but yet it still thrives.

Its good this plant is healthy and continues to grow. There is some real interesting biblical history and traditional medicinal properties to this 'Date palm' too:

This is really heartning, it goes to show how resilient life really is, just think there could be extinct plants just waiting to be planted. Jurassic park mabye not

I am sure that a seed sprouting after 2000 years is just by chance... no real designer was involved in that evolution I am sure......
