Well.... how to reply. It appears we've gotten quite a bit off-topic here (and it also appears that no-one has caught us yet, hehe
8^)
Heck of a point you've got there, and this does promise to be a rather lengthy conversation. Why don't we start a new thread? I'll let you do the
honors if you like- I don't worry about the points myself. Just U2U me a link when you do and we can commence.
I think we owe that to those who come here to discuss the UN.

The UN is...
The UN is the biggest part of the New World Order. You can't have New World Order, without a United Nation, or a Nation United. This will be the
rallying call, after the 2nd Civil War in America.

Since this thread was bumped. Looking back its a big shame that we didn't accept the bribes offered with the Food For Oil Program. At least we would
have come out with a huge profit instead of a disasterous loss. If we had taken the advice of other member nations as what the UN is intended for, we
might have saved a lot of lives and a lot of headache and concentrated on the man who has all the 411 on 911. OBL
Instead we got a few thousand of our own dead, or dying, maimed and psychologically damaged, and about 200K Iraqis dead at minimum. Not to mention
our international reputation is tarnished.

60 Years isn't "Short"

Sorry buddy, but the UN's been here for about 60 years. It's too late to call
it "Short Lived"!
As Master Yoda said to the Emperor in Star Wars Episode 3
" At an End your rule is, and not short enough it was!"
Now who wants to tell the UN?

You do have a basic understanding of grammer do you not?
It is the future of the UN which I am calling short lived.
The UN's past may have indeed been sad, but you can hardly call it terrifying or horribly despotic. It hasn't ruled a thing but rhetoric until now.
That will soon change. It may not be under the name United Nations, but the power behind it will be the same.
Nice try 'Buddy'

I'm quit good at grammer. The sentence in bold is a QUOTE out of Star Wars- Revenge of the Sith It was said by Jedi Master Yoda, when
he confronted the Emperor.
Star Wars Quotes
You can click the link and scroll down a little bit to where you see Yoda and Darth Sidious. You will see the line I quoted. I picked the quote to
make a joke. Read the post again, you will see that right before the odd line is this line: As Master Yoda said to the Emperor in Star Wars Episode

Ok. I apologize for the grammer thing, it was probably uncalled for.
I am quite familiar with 'Yodaisms' having read the SW book (released as a promotion) before the movie was released, and having seen the original SW
at age 14 many times. My favorite is, "Do or do not, there is no try". I must admit to not having seen the lastest movie, but thanks for reminding
me to see if it's out on DVD yet. I understand it's the best of the prequel series. I am a bit curious to see Yoda kick some ass as a Jedi, even
with my current middle-aged mindset.
What I was refering to was your assertion that because the UN had been around for so long that it was too late to call it the future. China has been
around for longer than any other nation, yet are only now becoming a global power, and one that I'm afraid will soon flex it's muscles. You get my
point. The big money powers behind the UN are not about to give up their centuries long quest for global dominion. I detest the UN and it's
sponsers as much as anyone, I'm just not willing to underestimate them.

The UN is like Marxism. It looks good on paper. The idea "feels" good in your head. As soon as it's put into practice however everything falls
to pieces and your left with a steaming pile of useless bureaucracy.

The United Nations is ____________
An abysmal failure...A diplomatic toilet...A rest stop on the interstate of life. It is even more corrupt than our nations government. Fully 2/3 of
it's members are countries that don't have free elections, it was considering putting Iran on the Human rights council, that in itself should tell
you everything you need to know about the UN. It's a bunch of tin pot dictators slapping each other on the back to tell them selves what they do to
their people is quite alright. Don't even get me started on the Oil for food program or UNICEF.

The United Nations is:
An organisation created by humans, controlled by humans designed to rule humans. Nothing more, nothing less. And as we all know the bottom line is
EVERY human is corrupt/selfish/dishonest., therefore any organisations we create will be doomed to wallow in imperfection.
Yes, the U.N deserves a massive shake-down and clean-out.
I can't help but laugh when I see the continual flood of 'The UN is a vile cesspool of toxic sludge etc' posts in this thread.
I, for one, am curious: Have none of you seen the resemblances between the U.N and your own home-grown governments? I know I do, and have!

the BILLIONS that the UN security council accepted in order to vote
against liberating Iraq. The BILLIONS that were stolen by Saddam
from the people of Iraq. The UN taking $$$ and just watching the
Iraqis die by the hundreds of thousands.
And America's funding of Iraq/Ian against Iran/Iraq, and the funding of third-world dictatorships against
Communism/Socialism/any-attempts-at-changing-the-status-quo-which-would-disadvantage-U.S-economic-interests?

Oh ... and there is the inaction of the UN in regards to Rwanda
and Somolia. How many hundreds of thousands dead there too
because of UN inaction. Wonder if the UN was getting illegal
$$$ from someone there too?
And the inaction of the U.S, and other nations (no more 'you evil librocommie America-hater! :@@ in regards to Somalia and Rwanda.
Oh that's right. It's only when it's profitable that ANY human government actually has the balls to do something about it.
But seriously guys if, by some miracle, the U.N actually gained the military resources/political clout to back it's decisions I wonder how many
posters here would be crying foul at the 'big bad NWO'?
Ah well. I guess we like organisations when they follow our ideals but, as soon as they gain any autonomy, they are evil.

the UN is a joke - how can an organisation with Zimbabwe head of its commission on human rights be taken seriously?
Forget the UN, the real world (UK,USA, Australia,New Zealand, possibly canada), which actual believes in liberty, should pull out and run things
itself, increasing the proliferation of liberty worldwide.
