The United Nations is ___________ (fill in the blank)
Okay .... since it was suggested that I open this thread up,
I have. There .... now everyone can post what they think
about something OTHER than America for a change.
My response -
The United Nations is a corrupt cesspool of deathly muck
that needs to be drained, and the runoff of which needs
to be treated at various sewage treatment facilities.

The UN is every left-wingers dream, a big monopolistic nightmare, a place where people spend a lot of time contemplating their lofty positions and
excellent salaries, and wonder how they managed to be so lucky to get those fabulous jobs.
They are like kings and queens, in the vast open spaces of their minds.
They accomplish absolutely nothing for the countries in need, but they do know how to pass the buck when it comes to their own failures----America did
it.

You sure you got the right thread? This sentiment would also apply here:
politics.abovetopsecret.com...
Both sides of the political equation btw.

Why? You have that much faith in your political parties? I'm looking at it from the outside and I think it applies just fine.
BTW, you can throw our Canadian parties in there to and flush the lot.

The UN is, like any national or international body, a perfectible instrument which does do good (as demonstrated by UNICEF and UNESCO) but would gain
a lot to be reformed as - like any national or international body - it is eminently corruptible.

... is a corrupt organization, 85% of whom are tyrants and dictators;
... is an organization, without which the world would be a better place had one of the plaanes hit it, and not the WTC.
... is an organization which, if they paid their parking tickets, would pay 1/4th of the national debt.
... is the home of UNICEF and UNESCO, which are more dangerous than some people realize. Read Agenda 21
... is an organization which, like the EU, is Hitlers wet dream, without the ovens.

I really enjoy members speculative opinions pertaining to the massive corruption in the UN without any substantiated references.
Good job.

EXACTLY
Yeah the UN has massive problems but is the UN worse than NO global dicussion of world events and policies?
Dont want to chage the thread but how abou this FACT
The United Natiions is... The place where the U.S has used its veto to cover protect at least 24 Israeli war crimes.
All the member states cause serious trouble but we are better off with a global dialogue than without

That's why. Besides, this thread is about the UN,
and NOT America for a change. I started this thread
because I was sick of foreigners, such as yourself,
just yammering about how bad America is ... when
they (frankly) haven't got a clue as to how great
America is.
Sorry ... but if you want to be vogue and jump on
the anti-America bandwagon with the rest of the
sheeple ... there is already a thread for that elsewhere.
And I say that with a smile and with the
purest intentions. Have a nice day and
don't forget ... AMERICA (FLORIDA no less!)
has the Stanley Cup.
(this is every Canadians nightmare!) ha ha ha

Guess you slept through that Oil for Food thing, eh? You know ...
the BILLIONS that the UN security council accepted in order to vote
against liberating Iraq. The BILLIONS that were stolen by Saddam
from the people of Iraq. The UN taking $$$ and just watching the
Iraqis die by the hundreds of thousands.
Oh ... and there is the inaction of the UN in regards to Rwanda
and Somolia. How many hundreds of thousands dead there too
because of UN inaction. Wonder if the UN was getting illegal
$$$ from someone there too?
There's more ... but you get the picture?

That's pretty selective reasoning FF. I didn't bash America at all. I was refering to your political system. It sucks, as does our own.
BTW, how many Canadians did it take for Tampa to win the Cup? 17 out of 24 players.

The UN is the only organisation that is seen by the rest of the World as having any degree of power to curb unreasonable American interests.
Probably why so many Yanks hate it.
And yes, I do agree that it is a crappy system that needs a thourough shaking down. But get rid of it and you leave yourself open to all sorts of
nasties. It's the only place in the world where a little country can diplomatically air and debate an argument with a superpower. Getting rid of the
UN means no dialogue and this opens a whole new can of worms.

The United Nations is a direct result of the globalization of power, the closest we have come to a one-world government. This trend would play right
into the hands of a few hypothetical individuals with superlative lust for power.

The United Nations Is far too large, widespread, and complex to categorize through one word.
You try uniting the planet. It's bloody hard. You've got a dozen nations who wanna kill each other, and a dozen more who wanna kill you for
wanting to kill someone else, and a handful who think you're all nuts and should just sit back and eat chocolate instead of governing.
It's hard.
