So the saga of the "X" over Cheney continues. Looks like someone called to complain and got the CNN operator into a left-wing rant.

Don't worry, I won't.

Seems like most of America isn't watching either, I bet CNN slips to 3rd place soon...MSNBC is better than them.

All commercial news sources are biased toward what "news" their audience wants.

However, I hardly think an operator indicates coporate news policy.

So none of you sheep have a problem with fox news being biased? When i watch news all the damn channels are full of bs and report nonsense.

All TV shows and Newspapers are biased. Get over it. That's why we have ATSNN. To duke it out with inteligent multi-sided (more than two) arguments.

The liberal CNN is owned by TIME-WARNER TBS - AOL who donated 1.6 million to GW's 2000 campaign.
(la.indymedia.org...)

Guess they don't like liars.
It will be interesting to watch what news comes out regarding Cheney in the next few weeks...

I have less of a problem with Fox News being biased than with people collectively referring to me and my fellow members as "sheep".

If you actually knew us, you wouldn't say that.

I thought it was a glitch, because there was writing under it too and so it looked like someone pressed the wrong button or videos overlapped.

How does a Turner operator, someone who gets minimum wage and answers telephones, turn into a CNN program and puppet master? Talk about trying to create an issue out of nothing! The operator probaly just got tired of all of the crackpots calling and complaing that they just snapped.

Are all of the telephone operators in India controlling American corporate policy too?

Seriously, how many threads do we need to devote to the "X".

Is this really all there is to discuss? :shk:

Shouldn't these all be moved to PTS by now?

All these "X" threads are starting to drive me nuts.

It has about as much relavance in my life as Clinton's sex life.

This IS important. The left continues to refuse to admit
that their altar of left wing worship - CNN - got caught
subliminalizing America and people in other countries
who were watching. Subjecting people to subliminals
is HUGE - especially when it comes to subliminals in
regards to who runs America.

If FOX had been caught doing this, the left would be
having a fit, and rightfully so.

Bill Clinton's adulterous sex life became public knowledge in detail
because he LIED while under oath in a sexual harrassment case.
He had put himself in a position to be blackmailed - not a good
position to be when you are president of the United States.

Like it or not, Clinton's lies and adultry ARE relevant to your life.
When people in power, especially the White House, LIE under
oath and expect to get away with it ... it does effect you.

Your correct in this respect, but in the case of most corporate news outlets [ie: FOX, CNN, CBS, NBC, etc.], as a whole, their past news trendings indicate otherwise. Besides, we are not simply talking corporate news policy here, but corporate news politcal bias in relation to those policies.

Yeah, right, curme.
Nice try there, mate.
Those Turner operators, "someone who gets minimum wage," are union members, making a whole lot more than you assert that they are.

You crack me up! The operator who blabbed about free-speech has been fired. It was not a cnn corporate-wide subliminable message!
Please!

I have yet to see this mass worship of cnn of which you speak. It doesn't exist. I'm not defending cnn, it's trash, but this X-gate thing wasn't a statement of some kind, not an attempt by a major 'news' source to subliminalize America.

If it had been subliminal, you wouldn't have seen it!

Edit: The more I read about this, the more I think it was just a glitch. Check out this picture. I'm not defending cnn, now, don't get excited, but this time, I think it was an accident. The X is the x in Exerpt and it's RIGHT in the center of the screen. Of course if there's a big ole' head in the middle of the screen, it's going to look pretty offensive (to some).

Edited to correct facts and add thoughts on picture.

For a very in depth accounting of this read here. Bill sorts it out and explains better than I could.

...the story had moved on from "exposing" an official admission of biased intent on the part of CNN vis the Cheney X, and had become the story of a caller to CNN running into a stream of anti-Bush, anti-war invective from a customer service person representing CNN, if not officially speaking for CNN. Admittedly this was a much smaller story, but still of interest.

Basically what you're saying here is "I'm gonna over-react and sensationalize because if it happened the other way around, they would too."

Two wrongs don't make a right (or a good argument for that matter).

More important than covering what's happening to our troops or other real news?

That sounds pretty definitive.

Got any proof that it was purposefully subliminal and not just a mistake; or are you just repeating what was said on a competetor's network (with a motive to stretch the story and slander to get ratings)?
