The FILUR (Flying Innovative Low-Observable Unmanned Research) technology-demonstrator program, run by Saab and Sweden's Defense Material Administration has made its first flight. It was a successful flight although 2 months behind schedule.

The FILUR program's main objective is to gain experience and to set a foundation for stealth requirements for future aerial systems and air-surveillance systems.

The focus with the FILUR program is on low signature – both radar and infrared. The technology developed under the FILUR program will be used for future Saab unmanned-aerial-vehicle (UAV) systems and will also feed directly into Dasault's NEURON program, with whom Saab is partnered.

Yes both the X-45 and X-47 look similar to the FILUR.

So, just to be clear, there are now unmanned, remoted controled, invisible flying machines of death right?

well.....in a way that pretty much sums it up.
who knows if the technology would go into the civilian world where passenger planes now be remote controlled and everybody is use to it.

Didn't I read somewhere that the U.S. was helping to fund this? Their site doesn't say. Perhaps it was something else.

Anyway, Meet FILUR

Is this going to be recon only...or are they planning on arming it?

You would with they would at least want it to be able to carry a couple bombs...in case it sees something that is time sensitive.

this is obviously a good design...since they all have pretty much the same appearence.

Flirur / Neuron / X-45C / X-47B

The main difference between the X-47B & the X-45C is that the X-47B will be for the carriers.
So is there any big difference between the Flirur & the Neuron?
