I wonder if we might be getting closer to a Civil war in Turkey.
Things are pretty heated between the Kurds and Tuks right now.

There was at least one explosion in Istanbul last week that killed at least one person and it seems it may have been Kurds who set it off.

On Sunday, there were some pretty violent demonstration against the Turks over allegations that Turkish security forces asassinated a Kurd.

sandiego.cox.net...

Around 200 Kurdish demonstrators, many wearing masks, set an armored police car on fire on Sunday as tensions ran high across the country over allegations of executions of supporters of Kurdish guerrillas by Turkish security forces.

Although this was not a protest demanding their own country, I wonder if we might actually see Kudistan become a reality in the next few years. If the US pulls out of Iraq they may take control of the Kurdish region of Iran and then annex the Kurdish part of Turkey. Without Saddam in the way this could become a real possibility.

Turkey had fights with ppk insurgents for over 20 years. First they were marxists but later they became more nationalistic. Turkey doesnt want to lose territory so they will not allow that eastern part of turkey to become part of a kurdistan.
