A resolution was recently passed in the US House of Representatives that honored the crews of five Navy Torpedo bombers and a Martin Mariner that, 60
years ago, were lost in the infamous Bermuda Triangle. This article gives a brief summary of the flight's navigational woes... but, interestingly,
it also notes that the sponsor of the bill (Shaw of Florida) stated that 'something must have been out there...'
Personally, I can see how a flight can get lost... but the additional loss of a seaplane later on hints at something other than pilot error.
