VIENNA, Austria - Iran obtained detailed instructions on how to set up the complicated process of enriching uranium, which can used to make nuclear arms, from the black market network run by a Pakistani scientist, the U.N. atomic monitoring agency said Friday.

In a confidential report, the International Atomic Energy Agency also said Iran was not giving inspectors access to a sensitive site that could be used to store equipment indicating whether the military is running a secret nuclear program.

The five-page report seen by The Associated Press was prepared for Thursday's meeting of the IAEA's 35-nation board, which could decide to refer Tehran to the U.N. Security Council for possible sanctions for violating an international nuclear arms control treaty.

Most board nations are concerned that Iran has resumed uranium conversion — a precursor to enrichment — and has refused to meet all IAEA requests about a nuclear program that was clandestine for nearly 20 years until discovered three years ago.

The report said Iran had handed over documents revealing detailed instructions on setting up uranium enrichment that it obtained from the black market network of Abdul Qadeer Khan. The scientist, considered the father of Pakistan's nuclear program, has acknowledged selling secrets to Iran, Libya and North Korea.

hmmmm the black market, no surprise there, Pakistani scientist Abdul Khan not even suprise there either. no doubt Iran wants to keep it a secret even when Iran is not even at war with anyone. makes u wonder........why did they keep it under wraps in the first place before it was leaked out that Iran want nuclear enrichment? fear Israel would target Iran before Iran has nukes maybe? its a possibility. so now Iran has to assure the world as well as Israel they are only going for civlian nuclear uses instead of military to buy some time so they can finally get their hands on a couple of nukes before Israel finds out. this is very significant.

Iran has never initiated war on any country. Has no claims on any terretory under its neighbours.

Any one under threat has the option to acquire any weapon that is available.

Iran has never claimed intention/plan to build/acquire nukes. It does not like it in the hands of US+Israel, declares nukes un-Islamic..........., why to fear from Iran?

The nukes, USA invented, USA used, USA proliferated (USA initiated nucclear program of Iran in 60's), USA is developing new-generation "smart nukes", whole world crunching under USA aggression.



USA had it for 60 years or so, did her nuclear technology not sell/leak in the black market?

The OP says Iran probably wants to keep it a secret, how come they themselves handed over the documents then.

Because we are faithful, were trying to proove that we only want nuclear energy. Just let us enrich uranium with the watch of IAEA and it will all be over, I don't even know why it takes over 2 years just to plan this thing out.

Everything in their own hands is safe, Weapons, Land, Air, Oceans, Space, Global Economy, Oil, UN, Even EU and Israel.

If Iran didnt like the Fact that the US can have nukes it shouldnt have signed the NPT which allows it, Israel decided not to sign it

Once again we are back to the NPT it allows the US, China, Russia, France and the UK to have them and forbids Iran from buying or making nuclear weapons. Iran signed it and always has the option to drop out of it as long as they give the required notice time to member states before they do.

A bunch of countries decided not to sign it Israel, India, Pakistan etc...

How is this evidence of Iran's "hidden" nuclear intentions if they:

1: Tell and show the UN Nuclear watchdog group that they recieved these plans?

2: Give specifics of where they got them. (This together with 1 would make one think more in the direction of Iran trying to help the UN Watchdog group track down and catalogue what this smugling ring is selling.)

Why would they come out and say they have these plans if they are supposed to be developing nukes in secret?


I find it utterly amusing how some of the public created propaganda against Iran these days involves stating they have plans and know how on how to make nukes.

Anyone who has an internet connection can get plans for a nuke, buy, relativly cheaply, components for a nuke and get everything else they need to construct a nuke without dying in the process.

The only thing thats hard to get is the isotopes that fuel a nuke.
And thats where the controversy about Iran's nuclear plant comes from. That thing can make the fuel if they want to.

While making crude nuclear weapon is not that hard if you have the weapon grade material, making it all small enough to fit in a missile warhead is. To develop a nuclear warhead small enough to fit on a missile is infact very hard more of a challenge then making a atomic bomb from scratch, and you aint going to find plans for that on the internet.

Iran already has a missile that could deliever a small nuclear warhead if the could shrink a Atomic design down enough which aint easy. Hmmm Pakistan already knows how to do that how interesting.
